Corbett closed out the 2023 campaign on IR after suffering a knee injury in a Week 11 loss to the Cowboys. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday suggests the Nevada product's knee is well healed as Carolina begins preparation for the upcoming season.

15h agoBarno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what specifically the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Luckily, for the Barno and the Panthers, training camp is still about three months away.

16h agoRodgers was reinstated by the NFL on Tuesday after he was suspended for the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Rodgers was originally suspended in June of 2023 after making bets on NFL games, which led to him being waived by the Colts. Despite the suspension, the UMass product inked a new deal with the Eagles two months later. With his suspension lifted, Rodgers will now be able to participate in all team activities for the first time since he signed with Philadelphia.

Patrick Surtain II DEN CBBroncos' Patrick Surtain: Has fifth-year option picked up
16h agoThe Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 Draft, Surtain so far has met expectations in his three-year career, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances the last two seasons and even first-team All-Pro honors in his second campaign. Overall, he has seven interceptions among 36 pass defenses in 50 regular-season contests while averaging 63.6 tackles per 17 games played, making him a respectable option in IDP formats. With Tuesday's transaction, Surtain now is locked in in Denver through the 2025 season.

Thompson fractured his fibula Week 2 against the Saints, which sidelined the veteran linebacker for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday would suggest the 30-year-old has moved past the injury and is fully healthy as the Panthers begin early preparation for the upcoming season.

16h agoWonnum (quadriceps) is missing voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Wonnum is still on the mend after surgery to repair his quadriceps, which he injured during Week 16 of last season. The South Carolina product inked a deal with the Panthers in March, so although it seems the franchise is not worried about his injury, it's not clear yet when he'll be ready to participate in the team's offseason programs.

4m agoAbreu batted cleanup and went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Guardians.
Abreu broke a scoreless tie in the seventh inning with the home run, but the Red Sox were unable to build off it. It was the fourth consecutive game that an Abreu hit has given Boston a lead. The outfielder, who has reached base safely in 11 straight games, is batting .361 (13-for-36) with seven extra-base hits and seven walks during his on-base streak. This was the second straight game at cleanup for Abreu, who is needed to replace the production lost when the team placed Triston Casas (fractured rib) on the IL.

Ryan Feltner COL SPRockies' Ryan Feltner: Lasts four innings in no-decision
6m agoFeltner allowed four runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Tuesday.
Feltner immediately found himself in some trouble with a leadoff walk and a pair of singles to quickly get the Padres on the board. They would plate one more before the inning ended and then got another two runs off him in the third with four more hits in the frame. Four innings pitched was a season low for Feltner, who had to work hard, needing 93 pitches to get through the outing. He was unable to replicate the magnificent start at home he had versus the Rays earlier in the month, but Feltner's managed to keep the ball in the park in his two starts at Coors as opposed to the four home runs he's surrendered in his three road starts thus far. He'll take a 5.68 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB (25.1 IP) into his next outing on the road against the Marlins.

Justin Lawrence COL RPRockies' Justin Lawrence: Notches first save of 2024
18m agoLawrence secured his first save of the season Tuesday in a 7-4 win over the Padres after pitching a scoreless ninth while allowing a hit in the process.
Lawrence's save Tuesday was just the second save by a Rockies pitcher this season with Jake Bird getting the other back on April 8. He's now picked up a win and a save in his last two appearances and hasn't let up an earned run since April 10. His ERA is inflated by one rough outing earlier this month, as he now owns a 6.23 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB in 9.2 innings.

Jonah Heim TEX CRangers' Jonah Heim: Hitless in return
19m agoHeim went 0-for-2 with a walk in Tuesday's 4-0 loss to the Mariners.
Heim returned to the team following a stint on bereavement leave. Texas' starting catcher is batting .257/.286/.419 with three home runs, three doubles, 15 RBI and seven runs scored over 77 plate appearances.

Brendan Rodgers COL 2BRockies' Brendan Rodgers: Launches grand slam in win
23m agoRodgers went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in the Rockies 7-4 win over the Padres on Tuesday.
Rodgers stepped up to the plate in the fourth with the bases juiced and sent a 421-foot blast to left center field to put the Rockies in front 5-4 and they would never look back. It was his first-career grand slam, his first RBI since April 13 and his first extra-base hit since April 12. It's been a rough go at the plate early on for the 27-year-old, as he's slashing just .197/.230/.324 with seven RBI, nine runs and a 3:20 BB:K in 74 plate appearances.

24m agoLowe went 2-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 4-0 loss to Seattle.
The Rangers' bats were quelled by Mariners pitching, but Lowe managed a second consecutive multi-hit game. After coming off the injured list Saturday, Lowe has appeared in all three games, batted fifth, and gone 4-for-11. In a normal world -- where the potent Texas lineup is producing -- Lowe's middle-of-the-order bat should provide him opportunities with runners on base.

4h agoPowell accumulated six points (2-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt), four rebounds and one steal over 26 minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 loss to the Mavericks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Powell landed two three-pointers in the loss, although failed to connect on any other baskets. He remains an offensive sparkplug off the bench, but on nights like this, his lack of peripheral stats is on show for all to see. If the Clippers are to wrestle back the advantage, they are going to need Powell to be a more reliable offensive threat.

4h agoMann racked up five points (2-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist over 21 minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 loss to the Mavericks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Mann offered very little outside of a highlight putback dunk, bumbling his way to five points as the Clippers gave up home-court advantage to the Mavericks. Although he continues to serve as a starting piece, the return of Kawhi Leonard from a knee injury means Mann could now be viewed as the fifth option on offense.

4h agoLeonard totaled 15 points (7-17 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and four steals in 35 minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 loss to Dallas in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Leonard returned to action Tuesday after missing nine straight games due to a knee injury. Although he was somewhat tentative to begin the game, he ended up leading the team in shot attempts, adding five defensive stats. Barring any setbacks, Leonard should be good to go for Game 3 in Dallas on Friday.

4h agoExum finished with zero points (0-1 FG), one rebound and one block across six minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 victory over the Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Exum saw just six minutes off the bench despite an ankle injury to Tim Hardaway. The Mavericks opted to go with size over speed, resulting in an important victory. With so much flexibility across their roster, Exum's role could fluctuate significantly moving forward.

4h agoDoncic chipped in 32 points (11-26 FG, 5-14 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal over 46 minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 win over the Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Doncic carried Dallas to victory Tuesday despite struggling from the field. In a low-scoring affair, Doncic hit several crucial buckets down the stretch, much like he has done all season. They will now return home for what will be a pivotal Game 3. Look for Doncic to put on a show in front of his home fans.

Daniel Gafford DAL CMavericks' Daniel Gafford: Non-factor in Game 2 victory
4h agoGafford logged zero points (0-3 FG), one rebound and one assist in nine minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 victory over the Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Gafford got the starting nod but managed just nine minutes in the victory. Given the Mavericks' depth at the center position, Gafford's role is likely to hinge on individual matchups and his on-court production. With the series now level at 1-1, Dallas will head home as they attempt to seize the upper hand.

5h agoCole picked up an assist and added two hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2.
Cole snapped a five-game point drought when he set up a Nikita Zadorov tally in the second period. The 35-year-old Cole is unlikely to produce much offense in the playoffs, but he should be able to maintain a bottom-four role on the blue line. He had 11 points, 166 blocked shots, 83 hits, 61 shots on net and 61 PIM over 78 regular-season appearances.

Phillip Di Giuseppe VAN LWCanucks' Phil Di Giuseppe: Offers helper in loss
5h agoDi Giuseppe registered an assist and six hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2.
Di Giuseppe didn't play much down the stretch, but he's been in the lineup over Vasily Podkolzin and Nils Aman through two playoff contests. In 51 regular-season outings, Di Giuseppe registered 10 points, 52 shots on net, 36 PIM and 94 hits. He'll likely stay in a bottom-six role during the postseason, if he's able to maintain his place in the lineup.

Nikita Zadorov VAN DCanucks' Nikita Zadorov: Nets lone goal in Game 2 loss
5h agoZadorov scored a goal on two shots, added two PIM and logged four hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2.
Zadorov had gone 12 games without a goal, picking up three assists in that span. The 29-year-old defenseman got the Canucks on the board in the second period, but they couldn't form a comeback. He's earned two points five shots on net, nine hits and three blocked shots over two playoff contests while playing in a bottom-four role.

Casey DeSmith VAN GCanucks' Casey DeSmith: Takes loss Tuesday
5h agoDeSmith allowed three goals on 15 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Thatcher Demko (undisclosed) is out of action, so it's DeSmith's turn in the crease for the Canucks. His first outing was poor -- the Predators were opportunistic with their chances early on and successfully bunkered down in the third period to hold the lead. DeSmith was mediocre in the regular season with a 12-9-6 record, a 2.89 GAA and an .895 save percentage over 29 appearances. He'll need more help from the team in front of him as the series shifts to Nashville for Game 3 on Friday and Game 4 on Sunday.

5h agoZucker logged an assist, three hits and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks in Game 2.
Zucker has a goal and an assist over two playoff contests, already more offense than he had in his last eight regular-season outings (one goal). The 32-year-old winger looks set to stay in a middle-six role during the postseason. He should also see some power-play time, but the strength of the Predators' top line makes it tough to rely on their depth forwards for scoring.

Nyquist set up Filip Forsberg's second-period tally, which was the game-winner. The 34-year-old Nyquist is playing the role of a steady playmaker on the top line -- he has two helpers through two playoff contests, and he's earned a goal and five assists over his last five appearances. He should continue to see ample ice time at even strength and on the power play, giving him plenty of chances to chip in with offense.
