AUBURN - With more than two dozen former teammates on hand, Rodney Garner came home to Auburn on Friday.

Garner, an All-SEC Auburn offensive lineman in 1988, returned to his alma mater after 15 seasons at Georgia. He will be assistant head coach, defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator.

Garner was Auburn's tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator when he left for Tennessee after the 1995 seaon.

"I'm an Auburn man. When I left here before, I said I might not coach again at Auburn but I will always be an Auburn man," Garner said. "

"... I am so excited about the opportunity to come back to Auburn and teach these young men about what it's like to be an Auburn man. An Auburn man is a special. It's a very real fraternity. All my brothers, whether I saw them last week or 10 years ago, we have the same love for one another we had when we played here. It's just an honor, and I'm so humbled. I can't wait to roll my sleeves up and go to work."
