Six AU commits in all-star game

Six Auburn commitments have been selected to play on the Alabama squad in the 26th annual Alabama-Mississippi all-star game.

Johnson is having a huge senior season.

Quarterback Jeremy Johnson from Carver in Montgomery will headline the offense and will be joined by wide receiver Earnest Robinson from Pinson Valley, athlete Jason Smith from McGill-Toolen, defensive lineman Dee Liner from Muscle Shoals, linebacker Reuben Foster from Auburn and cornerback Kamryn Melton from Dothan.

Smith, a quarterback at McGill, is listed as a wide receiver on the Alabama roster.

Johnson is putting together a fantastic season leading Carver to a 5-1 record and completing 83-of-120 passes (69.2 percent) for 1,580 yards with 19 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has 40 carries for 439 yards and five touchdowns.

At least one top Auburn target is on the roster in offensive lineman Wilson Bell from Blount. Bell unofficially visited Auburn Saturday for the Arkansas game.

Three of Alabama’s current commitments are on the roster in offensive lineman Grant Hill from Huntsville, defensive lineman Darius Paige from Foley and defensive back ArDarius Stewart from Fultondale.

Only one of Auburn’s in-state commitments didn’t make the team in linebacker Cameron Toney from Huntsville. Three Alabama in-state commits were not included in offensive lineman Bradley Bozeman from Handley (injured), tight end O.J. Howard from Autauga Academy (AISA school) and wide receiver Deon Johnson from Spanish Fort (arrested).

The roster also includes two Florida State commits -- offensive lineman Austin Golson from Prattville and cornerback Marquez White from Northview, two Ole Miss commits -- defensive lineman Finesse Middleton from Gadsden City and linebacker Rashawn Smith from Florence, Mississippi State defensive end commit Trent Simpson from Oxford, Texas A&M wide receiver commit Cameron Echols-Luper from Auburn and Nebraska cornerback commit Jonathan Cook from Spanish Fort.

Mountain Brook coach Chris Yeager will lead the Alabama squad against Mississippi on Dec. 15. The Mississippi roster is expected to be released later this fall.
