Rewind: Tigers still on top

TIGERS STILL ON TOP FOR 4-STAR DE: 4-star defensive end Carl Lawson from Milton in Alpharetta, Ga., named Auburn his leader following a Junior Day visit Feb. 25, his fourth trip to Auburn in the last five months. Lawson plans to have a decision before the start of his senior season but has a lot more trips to go on this spring and summer. At least one of those trips will be back to Auburn.

Lawson is a big, athletic defensive end.

“I just love the coaching staff,” Lawson told 247Sports. “I love the people. I love the town. I like (Tigers defensive line) coach (Mike) Pelton. I like (defensive coordinator Brian) VanGorder. I like (head) coach (Gene) Chizik. I like the system they run. It’s pretty cool.”

5-STAR DT PLANS SECOND VISIT: 5-star defensive tackle Montravius Adams from Dooly County in Vienna, Ga., visited Auburn for the first time in January and he plans to be back for the Tigers’ third Junior Day Mar. 24. Adams said he’s wide open in his recruitment and plans to hold off until Signing Day before making a decision. He has close to 20 offers including one from Auburn.

“Early playing time, good academics, the coaches, and just having a good bond with the players and coaches,” Adams told 247Sports is what he’s looking for in a school.

BELL ADDING OFFERS, HITTING THE ROAD: 4-star safety Vonn Bell from Ridgeland in Rossville, Ga., recently added his 15th offer from Notre Dame. Bell has already visited Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee this year and plans more trips this spring and summer before making a decision before the start of his senior season.

“I want to play for some good coaches in an environment where I feel at home,” Bell told 247Sports. “I’ll also be looking at the graduation-rate and which programs can get me to the next level. We’ll be looking at everything.”

BIVIN READY TO NARROW HIS LIST: The state basketball playoffs have kept 4-star offensive tackle Hunter Bivin from Apollo in Owensboro, Ky., from making some recent visits including a scheduled trip to Auburn’s Junior Day Feb. 25. Bivin, however, has rescheduled that trip for Mar. 24. He is wide open between his 20 offers so far but that could change soon.

“I probably need to start narrowing it down,” Bivin told 247Sports. “Hopefully I can narrow it down to a top five or six and go from there. I don’t have any timeline as far as that goes.”

“Nobody sticks out,” Green told 247Sports. “Everybody’s even. I’m trying to build relationships, and just get out to see these schools.”

REBELS GOING ALL OUT FOR NKEMDICHE: Ole Miss became the first school to offer cornerback David Kamara from Grayson in Loganville, Ga., on Wednesday. Kamara is a teammate and best friend of 5-star defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche, who is rated the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect in the 2013 class. Kamara added an offer from Mississippi State Friday.

The Rebels signed Robert’s older brother, Denzel Nkemdiche last May and the safety redshirted last fall. Denzel was planning to enroll at a junior college before Ole Miss came in late with his only D-I offer.
