Rewind: Tigers in top four

TIGERS IN TOP FOUR FOR 4-STAR WR: 4-star wide receiver Demarre Kitt from Sandy Creek in Tyrone, Ga., has been visiting a number of schools over the last few months including Auburn and Georgia in the last few weeks. While he had a good visit with the Bulldogs, Georgia was unable to crack his top group of schools. He plans to hold off on a decision until November.

Kitt has visited Auburn a number of times.

“Clemson, Ohio State, Tennessee and Auburn are my top four schools right now,” Kitt told 247Sports.

TOP TWO FOR IN-STATE D-END: Defensive end Cory Thomas from McAdory in McCalla, Ala., has picked up his first two offers from Mississippi State and Memphis. He attended Auburn’s Junior Day Feb. 23 and Mississippi State’s Junior Day Feb. 2.

“I would say Mississippi State and Auburn are my two favorites right now," Thomas told 247Sports. "I just like the way both schools run their program and the coaches at both schools. Those are the main two things that stick out to me and the main two things I will look at when it comes to picking a college.

"Right now I am just taking it slow, though. I want to be patient and talk to my family and sit down with my family before making the right decision. I am talking about things with my family and you never want to make a fast decision."

ELITE D-TACKLE HAS SOME STANDOUTS: 4-star defensive tackle Dontavius Russell from Carrollton (Ga.) High, who visited Auburn a couple of weeks ago, has eight schools currently standing out to him although he’s reluctant to name any official top schools.

“There isn’t anyone at the top right now,” Russell told 247Sports. “Some schools are up there like Alabama, Florida State, Florida, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Auburn, Georgia and Kentucky, but I don’t have a top five or 10. I’ll try and get that down a little by the end of the summer.”

Russell visited Auburn for a basketball game.

BAMA PUSHING FOR IN-STATE SAFETY: 4-star safety Ronnie Clark from Calera (Ala.) High visited Alabama last Saturday, his second visit to Tuscaloosa this year. Clark visited Auburn’s Junior Day Feb. 23 and will likely hold off on a decision until later this fall.

“I don’t know if I have a top group of schools right now and I am taking some more visits, but I would say Alabama is definitely up there at the top right now,” Clark told 247Sports. “I am not saying they are my leader yet, but Alabama is one of the schools that I have been to a lot and I like it more every time that I go up there.”
