FREE: Kennion flips to Auburn

Auburn landed their second commitment of the day on Wednesday when Raashed Kennion flipped from Cincinnati to Auburn.

Kennion, 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, said that everything seems right with Auburn.

"It was just a feeling of where I wanted to go," Kennion said. "Honestly I didn't have a doubt about me being able to be more successful at Auburn."

The 3-star defensive end from First Coast in Jacksonville, Fla., says that Auburn has stood out for awhile.

“I know the program is good," he said. "I know that they are successful. There is a lot of tradition at Auburn and I love the people.”

Kennion says that the decision took some time to figure out.

“I sat here and contemplated it for three weeks,” he said. “I have thought about it every day. I’ve been talking to my mom about it. She loves Auburn and Cincinnati, but she is more of an Auburn fan.”

Kennion talked with First Coast defensive coordinator Fred Culver for guidance.

“I was talking to my head coach about it and he was telling me to do what was best for me,” Kennion said. “He said that I would fit in better at Auburn more so than Cincinnati, and I told him that the feeling was mutual. That’s when I said I think I’m going to commit to Auburn, because that’s where I want to go.”

Kennion says that defensive line coach Rodney Garner played a big role in his decision to commit to Auburn.

"Coach Garner is a very intense coach," Kennion said. "I know that he can definitely bring the best out of me. I know that he can get me to where I need to be."

Kennion is Auburn's 12th commitment and third this week joining 3-star slot receiver Stanton Truitt, who committed Wednesday morning, and 4-star quarterback Sean White. who committed Tuesday.
