All-star rewind

CLUTCH PERFORMANCE BY JOHNSON: Auburn quarterback commitment Jeremy Johnson from Carver in Montgomery, Ala., completed 4-of-6 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown to lead the East to a 15-8 win over the West in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Johnson is committed to Auburn.

Johnson’s 34-yard touchdown pass to Louisville wide receiver commit James Quick on a 4th-and-16 with 3:59 left proved to be the difference.

“I feel great,” Johnson told “Throwing that game-winning touchdown, I know everybody in Montgomery is happy. I know they were watching so I feel good.”

FOSTER EARNS MVP HONORS: 5-star linebacker Reuben Foster was named Team Nitro MVP after totaling a game-high six tackles and 2.5 tackles-for-loss along with one pass breakup in the Under Armour All-American game.

“I’ve been having a lot of fun meeting new friends,” Foster told after the game. “Had a good game. Had fun. It’s competition but I don’t take it too seriously. The most important thing is I’m going to miss these boys I’m playing with and playing against.”

Foster, whose Team Nitro lost 16-3 to Team Highlight, said he hasn’t set up any official visits yet but Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Washington all remain in the running for his signature.

“Basically, I’m going to focus on grades before I focus on official visits and recruiting because I don’t need to be burned by official visits,” he said.
