Lawson firms up his commitment

Carl Lawson doesn’t like to do interviews. He doesn’t even like the recruiting process.

So the 5-star defensive end from Milton in Alpharetta, Ga., put an end to any speculation Sunday afternoon when he posted the following on his Twitter page.

“this will successfully end my recruitment I am an Auburn Tiger. No questions will be answered no calls will be accepted.”

Lawson, 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, has been committed to Auburn since last March. He officially visited Clemson and Tennessee in January before spending this weekend in Auburn.

"Haven’t felt this light on my feet in a while. The weight of the world is off my shoulders #WDE," Lawson tweeted.

Lawson is rated the nation’s No. 1 weakside defensive end and No. 24 overall prospect by 247Sports. He is the Tigers’ highest-rated commitment in the 2013 class.

Lawson had 78 tackles, 44 tackles-for-loss and 27 sacks as a senior.

Lawson was one of 11 official visitors in Auburn this weekend.

Auburn currently has 19 commitments. National Signing Day is Wednesday.
