  • For sure. We are hearing all about his negative recruiting against Auburn as well. The people in this state are the worst about assuming anyone who beats their team for a recruit is cheating.

I'm not one who buys in to "insider" bs but the folks who are saying this on our board have a lil cred. For example, they have never posted anything neg about au. They are saying ol DC cruits neg against Au & Bama pulling the race card frequently.

That would be a damn shame. Craig was a great player, and I hoped he would be our QB coach when Gus left. Here's to hoping that it's not true.

  • This is not the first time I have heard that one.

  • I'm hearing that a lot of inner city coaches love him (read as black) and private school coaches don't care for him. My mother in law loves Dameyune, but I could take him or leave him.

I would like him at AU, but I don't like what I'm hearing. It could just be rumors though.

  • Call it what you want but DC is dragging both instate schools through the dirt. Race card is the main thing. That and how the state of fla is much more progressive than old backwoods bama. Good results thus far though.... At least he isn't setting up prostitutes...yet

  • There is an email from DC osted on the bunker from one of his friends that refutes all of this. DC says he owns propery in AU and wants to retire there one day. Swears he is not playing the race card. TIFWIW

  • It all comes back to Jimbo Fisher. He was under Saban at LSU and DC played at Auburn. So Jimbo tells recruits all negative stuff about Saban ( which is perfectly fine because it is all true) and tells them to trust him cause he worked for him and knows him way better than they do. And that shys them away from Bama. Then DC comes in and says well Auburn this and Auburn that and says trust me I know because I went there and talks about Au in a negative way and so boom kid shys away from Bama and AU and goes to FL St.

I like Jimbo and DC a lot. I hope none of it is true.

However, you may remember that Jimbo essentially had the UAB job a few years ago but the BOT at U of A vetoed the hire. People at the time thought it was because they didn't want UAB to have a better coach than Bama. If that were true then I would assume Jimbo, at least, doesn't think too much of U of A and how that was handled.

Yeah that's true also. So yeah I could see him having some sour feelings for U of A.

That is just dumb. Based on that analogy, the BOT at UA would be responsible for him being the head coach at FSU.

    Call it what you want.

And just think. If not for the Alabama trustees, Fisher could be the UAB coach today. They nixed a proposed deal in December of 2006 that would've paid him about $600,000 a year, with half coming from boosters, to lead the Blazers.

In all honesty, do you think UAB should field a d1 football team? That kinda $ seems small today but at that time it was absurd for anyone to sink that kinda $ into a program that had no shot at bringing any type of return. It wasn't jealous bammers. It was and is a real problem.

I don't disagree with that. But, I do think Jimbo wanted the job and he was not approved and the boosters were going to cover half of his salary. I wouldn't call it jealous bammers at all. I think they made a decision based on the the position of both schools though at the time. Jimbo would have been a splash hire at UAB, even then.
