I know this board is about all things Auburn, but I also know the character and compassion of Auburn fans. My 7 yr old daughter has a really good friend who is battling a serious type of cancer. She is in her 5th year of fighting and seems to be on the final legs of her fight. She has been hospitalized for the last 5 weeks after undergoing a last grasp effort of hardcore radiation treatment. The treatment was so severe that the doctors in New York gave the family a letter addressed specifically to Homeland Security stating any residual radioactivity that may be detected as they travelled back to Arlington VA was due to her cancer treatment. This little girls spirit and will to fight this horrible disease has been unwavering and inspiring. I can not imagine the pain and agony this family has experienced over these last 5 years. The community has been incredibly supportive but now it looks as if we need a miracle. I am not a deeply religious person, but I have been known to pray during football games. God delivered for me this year on the field, so perhaps with the help of the Auburn Family, God can do it again. Her name is Catherine she could use your prayers.
you got it.
Your outside source.
I am in too!!! Got a friend that just went through it as well. Sending one up for Catherine NOW!!
NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE OR WHAT YOU DO...........PRAYER WORKS!!!!!!
"If you can handle the PAIN of discipline, you will never have to deal with the Pain of Disappointment" - Coach Nick Saban
Catherine lost her battle on April 1st. She continued to fight harder than anyone thought possible. She is now pain free with a beautiful head of hair filling heaven with her art. She had an impact on not only her peers, but everyone who had the pleasure to know her. She approached her fight with such an incredible determination and resolve, that it makes you evaluate your own station in life. The lesson she taught me is that you can always make a difference in a positive way in this world. She has impacted my daughter's life, as well as many other children in our area, and will never be forgotten.
I have to tell a story that her father shared on the Caring Pages that brings a smile to my face. This past year for Christmas she asked for a horse. We live in Arlington VA, an urban area, so her parents told her they did not have the space in the yard to board a horse. She then asked, well how about a cow? When her parents asked why a cow, her response was, well you wont get me a horse so maybe I can ride the cow around! Well, my wife and I being graduates of a "Cow" College will forever envision this little girl riding around Arlington VA on her cow!!!
So the next time someone calls AUBURN a cow college, just think of little Catherine riding around with a joyous smile!!!
