In short, yes. A lot of Auburn people are really excited about McNeal's potential. He made dozens of tackles on kickoffs this past season, and made plays every time he was in the game at safety. He has good speed and ball skills to go along with his tackling. In my opinion, he is one of the best safety prospects we have had in recent years. That doesn't mean he is a sure thing, but he seems to have all the tools to be good.
I think Neiko moved to safety because of the young Chris Davis. He is someone I have alot of interest in. I have a friend who is a trainer and says in practice he was giving darvin hell when he came in as a freshmen.

He and Craig Sanders were the heart and soul of a kickoff coverage team that went from abysmal in 2009 to one of the nation's best in 2010. Their contribution on special teams this year was one of the most glaringly obvious differences in that team and the 2009 version. Demetruce McNeal also made some huge plays for us last year, particularly in the BCSCG. Arguably the defensive play of the game was when he ran the Oregon WR down from behind on what would have otherwise been a sure TD. They ended up not scoring on that drive.
He made a game SAVING tackle where Toomer was headed for the end zone in the Natty. Even Brent Mus. said touchdown but D. McNeal made a shoestring tackle at the Goal Line, which lead to keeping the DUCKS out of the endzone. He replace Zac whe he cramped up in the BCSNCG.
