my new book - "Auburn's Unclaimed National Championships"

  • Given that many people are up in arms about the state of the Auburn football program, perhaps now is the time to raise another issue that is a sore subject with some -- the fact that the Athletic Department will not claim all the NC's that AU is rightly due to claim.

This past summer, Texas A&M added 2 retroactive NC's to its total; Univ. of Minnesota added 1 for the 1903 season, a few years ago USC added one for the 1939 season. Pitt claims 9, Tennessee claims 6, and even the Univ. of Illinois claims 5.

Yet Auburn claims just 2, when there are 7 more seasons -- 1910, 1913, 1914, 1958, 1983, 1993, and 2004 -- that can legitimately be claimed as NC seasons.

Auburn's Unclaimed NC's is the book that gives a history of Auburn football and focuses on these 7 seasons, stating exactly why a NC should be claimed for each of the seasons. The book also shows what happens to Auburn football when a University President attempts to diminish it's importance. It happened from 1920-27 and set back AU football for 3 decades and allowed Alabama the opportunity to become a better program than Auburn, which it clearly was not to that point.

Davis Housel previewed this book and helped me with certain aspects of it. He is supposed to write about it in his column in the Auburn Football Illustrated for the Georgia game Saturday.

The link takes you to the web page about the book, which then has a link to the publisher's ordering page. This is a print-on-demand book, which may take 1-2 days before it is shipped.

I'm stepping up and making this an issue by publishing this book. Will anyone get on the bandwagon with me?

    Auburn's Unclaimed

The book that explains why Auburn University should claim a National Championship for the 1910, 1913, 1914, 1958, 1983, 1993, and 2004 seasons in addition to the 1957 and 2010 National Championships. (by Mike Skotnicki)
