we are watching/recording sec ref inconsistency

  • I've seen two instances of players not celebrating with teammates and no call (see thereize on kickoff). what is the link to sec website/steve shaw b/c i understand their internet/twitter blew up over measurement @ au re'cvd on 4th down (spot was awful-measurement was side story) SEC had major traffic enough for sec to send out a clarification (see al fans losing it and peppering twitter) I want au fans to demand consistency with setting the ball b/c I'm seeing ref's be slow for lsu benefit (on D) when last week in second half ref's set ball for msu on offense w/o au d being anywhere close to set. phillip please share link so we can tell ref's we demand absolute consistency.

  • I saw a defensive State player celebrating by himself in this game(LSU). Where's the flag? Yet, we have calls that go our way...

  • The ref setting the ball is a pretty specific rule. If the offense makes a substitution, the ref will stand over the ball and allow the defense to sub as well. If the offense does not make a change, they can ge right to the line and run the next play.

In those instances where you see a ref over the ball, it meant MSU made a sub, giving LSU the same right.

  • Another inconsistency is with the sideline warning. Somehow I missed that the rule for sideline warnings has gone from a true warning to a 5 yard penalty. Dan Mullin was all over the field all night along with some of his staff. At no time did the refs give Miss State a penalty for his conduct. In fact, I have only seen one penalty for sideline warnings and that was against Auburn. But if I recall correctly, the ref team was Penn Wagers and his crew. He is so prejudiced against Auburn it is beyond ridiculous.

I believe sideline warnings (penalties) are typically for sideline obstruction of the team in general or a large number of people getting too close to the field, especially if they obstruct the sideline ref from doing his job.

I think it's pretty rare for a single coach or even a couple coaches to get a flag. I watch several games every week and I don't remember seeing a individual coach get a flag for sideline obstruction.

  • Anyone notice in the msu game the holding penalty in the 3rd or 4th quarter they received at our goal line. relf made it out of the endzone, they had a holding penalty, ball was spotted ahead of the original line if I'm not mistaken.

Penalty was half the distance to the goal line from the spot of the foul, not the previous spot.
