    child please

Callaway wanted to play running back, so he switched to Auburn because that's the position we were recruiting him for. When Alabama promised him a chance to try running back, he switched his commitment back....because THAT'S (caps for emphasis, not yelling) where he wanted to go.

Did you ever see the video from signing day? Does that look like a kid being forced to go somewhere he didn't want to go? He basically lived on that campus throughout recruiting. He said himself that it was like "home" when he was there.

I have no idea if they ever did anything to get him to commit in the first place, but had there not been a running back vs linebacker position situation with him, he would never have switched to Auburn in the first place. That's just the truth.

if getting Carl Lawson to sign with AU meant having an AU booster pull a Brent Calloway type stunt, would you be ok with it? yes? no? maybe?

    No.

ja - why would you say that? Seriously, I was under the impression that it was a kind of a "known" that he was whisked away just before signing day?

And I like this question... very interesting.

I'd like it even more if people could anonymously answer... I think you'd see much more of a split.

See my response to Golf. He was whisked away, I just don't think that's why he signed with Alabama. Once they promised him a chance at RB, it was over. He never wanted Auburn over Alabama, he wanted RB over LB.

And I agree, it would be interesting to see answers if it could be done anonymously.

Wish we had the ability to start polls.

let's just say i know the situation intimately. the kid didnt really have a choice. he wanted to go to AU over bammer.

You mean stuff him in a car and carry him across state lines to an undisclosed location?? No.

If he wanted to go.to Auburn he would have. You people really think he had a gun to his head or something making him go to Bama are helpless.

They aren't gonna accepting anything different...you know that.

Well, I can't argue with you claiming to intimately know the situation, but unless you're in his family or one of his personal closest friends, I'm not sure how intimate you could really be on something like that. Beyond a handful of folks, those things are usually a "I heard from someone that knows him....", or, "the coaches son things Brent really wants....", etc.

Anyway, again, if you are really tight with his family, then I can't argue with that.

But when he put on the script "A" gloves and came out with big smiles to sign his letter to Saban, it just didn't look like a kid that was doing something because a gun was held to his head. He looked pretty darn excited. 18 year old kids can't fake that stuff if you ask me.

He looked like a kid that truly believed this quote, "My heart never left Alabama. ....Alabama has been my home since I started this process".
