BM said he doesn't expect ZP to report.

Saw a post from BM saying he doesn't expect him to report then.

  • Damn it. Get the kid back here to Auburn and let him start preparing for his career. If he does not show up he'll create more distraction than not. Instead of reading about Auburn preparations, we'll get a weeks worth of how Auburn has disiplinary problems again from the local press. Put the Kid on the practice squad or whatever, but he needs to be HERE to get his head right. He's been home long enough.

From what I understand it is his choice. If he can humble himself, admit that he has been a screwup and commit to being a team player he will be allowed back. I think it's encouraging that he has stayed off of twitter since his departure and I hope he is getting his mind right. If he wants to be a hard head and keep acting like he is special then we don't need him around. Auburn's QB situation will be fine w/o him.

You bring up a good point. Without him here, who runs as the practice squad QB?

But do we know this is his choice or are you speculating it is his choice? I know we make choices through our actions; Dyer is an excellent example of that. I think CGC has a plan. I just hope it is not a plan to run Zeke off. Despite his youthful and immature offenses, Zeke has a lot of Auburn in him. He put a lot of effort into recruiting good players to Auburn and never wavered on his commitment. He also put up with a LOT of BS from the Updyke Nation for his effort.
To me he deserves to be here NOW. Should he screw up again, then he made his own choice.

IF TRUE, you can bet some lazy sports writers are dusting off their standard "Attrition Problems at school X" articles. In these articles, you will not see a single comparison of attrition rates at school X versus attrition rates of similar programs in the south and across the country.

And that article should come right before the one explaining AU must have 5 to 6 scholarships made available thru attrition in order to sign a full class of 25 - WDE

Honestly, outside of those who cover Auburn, not many sports writers are going to pay attention one way or the other to whether Zeke Pike returns.

Want to bet. I am not worried about Auburn beat writers. It's the troll beat writers that will pay the most attention.

  • It will only create a distraction if people let it. I personally haven`t given it a thought is several days. He is either there or he isn`t. I wish what is best for him, then for Auburn.

It's his choice from he standpoint of whether he has done what is required of him to do to return. Whether he has done those things satisfactorily is Chizik's call. It's not a matter of he can just decide to return anytime he wants. My opinion - and that's all it is - is that he won't be back anytime soon if at all. At the same time, I could be completely wrong and he could be back today. We'll see.

I know you will disagree Phillip, but you or someone you know does not like this kid. It's apparent to me that you or someone you know wants Zeke to fail. I don't get you at times. I am just tired of seeing kids fall from this team. Good or Bad I love them all in some way or another.

I understand Zeke has to meet all of CGC requirements, but if there is not any reasonable time table for him to meet these requirements and return then why not just KICK HIS ASS OFF THE TEAM and move on? CGC either thinks he can change the kid or he can cut bait and quit trying. I'll give it to the first day of class for Zeke to return before I'll have an opinion.
His opportunity for 2012 is shot (by his own doing), but 2013 is an option (see M. Blakely) if he transfers now. If it is our coach's intention to RUN HIM (via transfer) verses KICKING HIM off the team, then I don't know if I am comfortable with that. I don't think it is fair to leave a kid hanging with the choice of possibly losing two years of playing time (2012 and 2013 because of transfer ineligibility). ZP has made mistakes, but should his future collegiately or professionally be destroyed by the Juvenile behavior of an 18-19 year old? I don't think it should.

  • You know nobody would rather have Mr. Pike at Auburn and on the practice field than the coaches. This is not his first rodeo when it comes to discipline problems. He did not play in his high schools play-offs because of discipline problems. Having a grandson at Auburn who is a scholarship athlete, you as the old saying goes, "you fish or cut bait", which is about the bottom line in this case.

  • Seriously man (Eagleson), you may be right. There is one person that does not want Zeke Pike to succeed and that person is Zeke Pike. He needs to look in the mirror and realize he is creating his reality. There are many in his own hometown that say his ego is outta control. He can talk the talk, but he cannot walk the walk.
