I believe Arkansas will take the TOSU route and name an interim coach for 2012. That give them plenty of time to select the best candidate. Butch Davis would be wrong in light of his past transgressions. Potential names would be Tuberville, Malzahn, Briles, Franklin, Rich Rod. Arkansas will be a tough sell since you have to beat bama, LSU and AU every year just to win the West. The fan base is rabid but results have been slim the past few decades.

All I know is we dodged a bullet 8 1/2 years ago. As for who will be the next coach I wouldn't be at all surprised if they are able to bring in an elite coach and I would never denigrate their players or their overall talent level. After all, they've beaten us 4 out of the last five years and they've won 23 games in the last two years. I have a healthy respect for their program and would bet they will get positive looks from many of the leading recruits and especially their parents after making a tough but completely correct decision to fire Petrino.

I selfishly hope this will give us an edge in getting back on the right track with this rivalry.

As for Petrino, I wouldn't be at all surprised if some coach reached out to him to come in and coach their offense this year. Whatever else he is, he may be the best offensive college coach in the country - and maybe also the most offensive.
