Your Best Memory from Toomer's!

  • I was raised in an all bama family. My sister graduated from there and then completed a masters so it only furthered the deep roots my family had with the school. I thought that was the school for me as well going into my senior year until I applied for Auburn. Upon receiving my acceptance letter from bama, I thought things were settled. Then I received another letter in the mail with an acceptance to Auburn. I thought nothing of it. Honestly, I had no idea which direction to even go from Bham to even get to Auburn. My parents thought it would be unfair for me not to at least see the school, as they had never been to the town themselves. We set up a visit and toured the town and the campus and I fell in love immediately. I told myself this is where I want to spend the best years of my life. The beautiful women, the warm sunshine, the small town feel, the amazingly gorgeous campus had me overwhelmed with joy to be a part of it all. I told myself it wasn't cheating on my football team, it's just academics! I loaded up after graduation and set out to the plains. It took no time for me to see for the first time the hate and degrading things thrown our way from the other side of the state. I had never been harassed like this from the Auburn fans. It began to change me. I then went to my first football game and it was over. From that point on my blood was forever stained a dark blue and orange. It didn't hurt the season happened to be 2004. Wow what a feeling. Anyways, the point is that campus means the world to hundreds of thousands of us, if not millions. We are proud. Our best tradition, one of many, was taken away due to ignorance of an angered fan of our opponent. The school I was raised to love. The one I can't stand to speak the name after enduring 10 years of hate from their fans. I've concluded that my three favorite moments at Toomer's were as follows. Please post yours!

    1) Alabama game 2005:
To this day I've never seen so much toilet paper! College street literally had it up to our waist all the way to Samford. We were diving and Fallin in it on the street.

    2) SEC Championship 2010:
Unbelievable how many people were there. I do believe it was the most I had seen after going after every win for over 10 years.

    3) BCS National Championship 2010:
There was ice everywhere. Snow on the ground all over Alabama. We had first day of class that was cancelled due to the weather. Crazy how many people came out in the cold, bad conditions to party next to those trees. Ill never forget it!!

    (Honorable Mention) Florida game 2006-
Probably my favorite night game I've ever attended! Incredible game and made for a huge night at the trees!!

Today is a great day to love Auburn, a little better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

  • 2010 BCS Championship as well for me. As soon as that kick went in my girlfriend at the time and I ran to the car headed downtown. We passed people walking from a long way out, all flocking to Toomers. There were so many people there it was crazy. Such a good time.

  • Easy, it occurred this year when I took my 7 year old son to his first football game (La Monroe, a win!). He asked me how to throw it. I launched a roll and he picked one up and did it just like his old man......got amazing pictures and a memory that will never die! War Eagle! wareagle

Great post! Heart-felt and one that I can truly appreciate! My favorite Toomer's Corner rolling memory has to be 1989 when Bama came to Auburn for the first time ever. Auburn won 30-20. By Sunday morning the trees along College Street had been rolled from Toomer's Corner past Ralph Draughan Library, past Fiji, past the old KA House, all the way to the Arboretum. It looked like it had snowed heavily for one mile. The President's Mansion lawn was covered in TP! Quite a site - surreal!
