Your Best Memories that took place at War Eagle Supper Club ?

  • I bet there ae a lot a great tales of that place. If walls could talk .

Anyway I remember Pat Sullivan and Terry B and Henley being in there after games. The cheers and yelling was so loud you could barely hear. i can still taste that greasy Pizza. Best in the world. man it was fun.

  • T two.....

Saw Buddy Miles at the club. Not a huge crowd by any means. Don't think a ton of folks really knew who he was. Was standing in the same spot for a good while and buddy broke a drum stick durning "Them Changes " and I caught it. Had him sign it and it is now a centerpiece for a memorabilia room.

Saw the young Derrick Trucks play with a soul live as the opening act. One of the best nights of my life. That trucks kid can sure get down on a slide.

Tons of other hazy alcohol induced memories PM the club best bartender...... PAULY!!!

^^^^^^This, I always made it out alive and under my own will, which I consider a success. Unfortunately I was there after the glory days when Panic was playin.

The real question is who used to make it out late-late night/early morning to Fat Daddys off of Wire? Those were some interesting times, haha.

I CanNOT believe you just started this thread. I was thinking about doing something similar today and just hadn't gotten around to it. What prompted it was that my great-niece texted me that since she just turned 21 (1/10) and could legally drink, she was making her first trip to the Super Club. I told her it was a right of passage.

My question was, how long has it been there? I know it's been "forever" but I don't really remember much about it when I was in school from '74-'78 and for two of those years I lived right down the street from it in the Mount Vernon Village trailer park. My memories are more of going to the All American Inn for quarter beer night, to Nichol's Alley on Wednesdays for nickly beer night and the Punt Bama Punt on the Auburn/Opelika highway - really weren't very many "bars" in AU back then. I also remember a place called Casino close by, too, but we really just partied at each other's apartment or trailer. In hindsight it really was a good thing there weren't that many bars. I probably would have had to get a part time job to pay my tabs :-D

LOL - there was no Fat Daddy's when I was there - our late night food of choice was the Krystals off West Magnolia (I think). I ate many a wedge of lemon pie there.

Seeing Buddy Wayne Mills for the first time. Son a bitch puts on a great show. I was too late to see Panic play there as I started in '92 and too early to see Drive By Truckers.

Yea I was at Auburn, 05'-09' so pretty recently. Fat Daddys was not a food place really, at least no for our intentions. It was the go to place after Supper Club, I'm not sure it ever closed down, haha.

  • Some of my favorite nights there were watching the Pigmys and David Allen Coe. Went by there a couple of years ago and they were advertising the Pigmys were going to be there that night. Over 20 years and they were still playing at the Supper Club, Amazing. One night Frank Thomas and his "Posse" pulled up to the front door on a huge Limo. They were all dressed in 3 piece suits. Man I would hate to clean those suits the next day. Haven't been in the supper club since 93, does the men's bathroom still have the "trough"? I all most forgot about Wide Spread Panic.

  • Way too many memories at the supper club. My favorite was when we all loaded up and started that way, at the time I thought everyone was good to go but I was wrong. After standing in line for 30 minutes I look back and one of my good friends (still to this day) was on all fours crawling to the door. We had to literally pick him up and take him back to the car. He was sound asleep hours later when we left with the Windows rolled down. If he wasn't so drunk he would have froze.
