Auburn signed 48 4-star and 5-star players from 2009-2012. How did they fare? How many are left?
Speechless. That's a lot of talent. But we all know, talent means nothing if you don't have the right coaching and are disciplined. Not to mention, sometimes "stars" can be overrated at times. War Eagle!!
The past is the past. I'm confident these coaches will make the most of our talent.
Nothing to do but sit back and wait to see if there has been a real change. If all the players who participated in spring practice show up clean and ready for work in August it will be a good sign. Results on the field will be the real proof. Auburn needs to win early and often to enable the recruiters to bring in talent. Everyone is waiting to see if the coaching staff is about real change and winning.
Poor team management by Gene Chizik. These guys were the opposite of those who would run through a wall for a coach. Motivation was missing and priorities screwed up.
Attitude is Everything
Auburn from day one.
I like to think a lot of these kids just need strong leadership and to be pushed. I feel certain the new staff will get much better results out of these 4 and 5* kids that have yet to perform.
My hope is the right coaches are now on board that not only recruit, but actually develop players. Still lots of talent without any true direction once on campus.
Two ways to look at this:
1) This is horrible and what a waste of talent.
2) I am encouraged by the fact we still have so much talent on the team. With the right leadership, the turn-around time for this team should be short.
I personally choose the later and am encouraged by the amount of talent waiting to be cultivated. I think we have the right pieces already here at Auburn, we just need the culture and depth to go with it. Will we be world beaters? No. Should we be DRASTICALLY better? I think that is a safe "yes."
The more I read about past, the more I hate Gene Chizik..What a lame duck coach and manager...But it's a new day..We have to wait and see what Gus can do in three years..
Auburn is still a huge draw for top football talent. With discipline and hard work, on and off the field, I believe we can return to a force in the SEC.

Not hard to see that 6-6 or 7-5 on the horizon. Unless, NM really is what many think he is.
