Hmmmm......that's certainly not all you are saying.......

Like it or not Cam and Auburn are joined together on this. We can't unrecruit him. We've said we recruited him by the rules. We said that when we found out there possible issues with his recruitment at another school we spent a lot of time carefully reviewing the records and found nothing untoward in his recruitment by Auburn and no reason for him to be ineligible. With regard to the resolution of this situation, it doesn't matter whether Cam plays tomorrow, we will have to stand by our investigation and Cam unless new information has come to light that Auburn did not know about.

It seems really bizarre that Mr Newton chose the Friday night before a big game to confess to a local news reporter. We know he has retained a lawyer yet the lawyer was not mentioned in the story. I'm sure that national reporters have been trying to get Mr Newton to go on the record for days but there hasn't been a peep out of him until tonight. Very strange.
