    AGAIN, NO.

Nothing against Gus as a person, etc. But he is a "coddler" and we do NOT need that after this debacle. He helped create the problems we have now. And he does not have the necessary HC experience. We need a strong disciplinarian who will come in and set boundaries and clean house as necessary. Gus is NOT that guy!!

Scoring points will come when we have the mental and physical discipline in place. Again, WE ARE AUBURN. We are NOT a "training job" for anyone, including Gus. This is a PREMIER program, a GREAT job, with GREAT facilities, GREAT fans, and BIG budgets. This is a DESTINATION JOB.

WE TAKE A BACK SEAT TO NO ONE! Sorry for the caps, y'all. But I felt the emphasis was needed!! crackwhip

There are high school coaches out there that have won more state championships than that. Let's find the one that has won the most and hire him.

  • Lets quit mixing our sports metaphors.

The next hire should be called a TD hire rather than a HR hire.

  • Thanks Gus for all you did in "10", but no thanks in 13. One year HC at some really dinky small college in freaking back woods or rice field dont qualify him to be HC at Auburn. NO WAY NO HOW

You're right! I mean all that success at every level he's been at was a fluke!

I mean look at Ole Miss - they hired that rinky-dink college's college old coach and look at them this year! Oh wait...

  • Please never again compare a high school state championship to a college NC. Rush Propst for crying our loud won several state championships.

  • Gus is a proven winner. He deserves an interview. He may be the best coach for the job. If we have to take a chance, I am willing to give it to him. At this point I am not convinced there is anyone else that can do better.

    WE!

I didn't compare them. Posted his entire career to show he's had CHAMPIONSHIP caliber success at EVERY STOP, on multiple levels.

The mark of a great coach is one who WINS AT EVERY LEVEL HE'S AT. If a coach is able to do that, regardless of the level of competition, you KNOW the guy's system is successful and he will ultimately be successful.

I guess you're conveniently forgetting the 4 times in 6 seasons as a College OC that his teams won 10+ games.

In 4 seasons as an SEC Offensive Coordinator, his teams were 40-14 (74.07%), appearing in 2 SEC Championship Games in his first 3 seasons. And that is in SPITE of working under two of the most arrogant buffoons (Nutt and Chizik) in SEC West history.

In his first 5 seasons as a college Offensive Coordinator, his teams appeared in 4 Conference Championship Games.

In his ONLY season as a college Head Coach, his team is in 1st place in the Sun Belt, only 1 win from winning the Conference Championship.

His lone season as the head guy at Arkansas State validates that his system works and that he has what it takes to be in charge of completely running a successful program.

His 2008 offense at Tulsa is the 2nd HIGHEST SCORING OFFENSE IN NCAA HISTORY!!! As in, 2nd BEST IN THE HISTORY OF NCAA FOOTBALL.

  • He isnt my first choice but I would be satisfied very much with the hire

  • I'd rather not. We need a total cleansing. I don't think Gus fits that.

Besides, would he be any better than Chizik in handling the off the field issues? I don't know, but I also don't know if I would take that chance.

This. We need a disciplinarian, not someone that will babywipe a thug's ass just because he can tote the rock.
