I think the XM guys were mistaken.

The ACC deal with ESPN includes basketball and is for $1.86 billion over 12 years, or $155 million per year. The current SEC contract, which is sure to grow considerably given the new Pac 12 deal of $225 mill per year, is for $205 million per year. As it stands now the SEC take is over $4 million more per school per year.

They won't go after anybody inside of the market (FSU,Clemson etc.) because the tv exposure is already there in the state with teams already in the conference. And we all know that tv exposure brings in $$$, so if I had to guess they will go outside for a team like VA Tech or Missouri maybe even Maryland because they are close to the D.C area. But who knows what the SEC is thinking

I agree that Virgina Tech should be a serious candidate if the SEC decides to look towards the East. The proximity to DC and other major markets in Virgina, North Carolina and even Pennsylvania has to be attractive when looking for expansion to the East. On a side note, the campus, other than all of the buildings being made of stone, reminds you alot of Auburn.

The bigwigs in the SEC office couldn't care less about the gameday atmosphere, fans, or how beautiful the campuses are in identifying the 14th suitor - they care about $$ and improving the league's profile. They would love to get another prominent program to make us even stronger (which has already been pointed out might not really be in our best interest.)
