Who here thinks a 9 win regular season should be the benchmark?

In looking at our schedule, these following games are going to be the hardest to win: Clemson, LSU, ARK, UGA, and UA. We get three of these at home. The other games, I feel like we should win. If AU is going to take a step forward this year, we need to win at least 9 regular season games. Talent wise, I think only LSU, UA, and UGA has us out manned. We went 7-5 last year with a much harder schedule; so, I think it is not unreasonable to improve our win total by two games this year. I like catching LSU at home and early in the season. I like our chances with ARK. We have an off week before them and we got them at home, plus they seem to be falling apart. UGA will be tough, but we will be UGA's thrid SEC game in a row when they play us, and we have a cupcake right before them. Bama will be the hardest to me since it is away and they are the defending national champs. Clemson, to me is a toss up right now, but if they keep getting players suspended I like our chances. We may have an advantage in that they will not be able to prepare for our offense. What are yall's thoughts. Nine wins is very doable and I think it should be our benchmark for this season.

I agree. 9 wins should be the minimum. We should be two games better than last with this schedule and depth.

I expect a 10 win season this year. That can include a bowl win. As for next year, anything less than an SEC Championship is unacceptable. The talent this year is very good and most will return with a little more experience for next year. Anyhow, these are my expectations FWIW.

Where our program is at this point, I would say that is a little high of a benchmark. Maybe when we win more than one a decade I would go there. If we can be above 8 wins most seasons and compete for championships about every 3 to 4 years, I would be happy. There are just too many teams in the SEC year in and year out that are at the level of competing for championships to put the benchmark that high.

If you think 8 wins or less is acceptable this year, you don't know much about football. If we aren't better this year than last with all of the invaluable experience garnered by our young team then something is dreadfully wrong. That coupled with the fact that the schedule this year is very forgiving and Auburn could easily win ten if they improve like I think they can. To be honest, I'd be horrified if we had another 8 win season this year...
Also, we have won 2 SEC Championships in the past decade, so we already meet your requirements to "go there"
