  • so, Bryan, you think we have a better shot at getting Collins than Westerman? From the comments about Kiehl and Christian's families rooming together for the Under Armour AA game (instead of rooming with UT commits) and him having family in Alabama that seems like the more likely option, IMO.

  • It's a long battle to go with Collins. There are a lot of people that are going to be in his ear from now until signing day. If we land him to go along with Robinson it would be epic. Bryan, do you think Westerman stays at Texas?

    You could very well be right. There's stil a lot of possibilities with six weeks to go.

    I wouldn't be surprised to see Westerman stick with Texas or flip to Auburn. I'm just going on a hunch.

  • I thought we would have a better shot at getting Tre Mason than Hill or Huggins but those two would be great! I guess Tre Mason has kind of drifted off. Bryan if you are accurate with your predictions this will be one heck of a recruiting class.

  • Bryan, I posted this question on another of your blogs... Why doesn't AU recruit well in Columbus, Georgia, i.e. right in our own backyard? Is my perception of this incorrect? Did the Tuberville staff cause some bad feelings to develop there? It's disturbing that Isaiah Crowell is a 5-star running back just down the road from Auburn, yet there has been very little mention of him on the recruiting news for the Tigers.

    didn't Crowell's dad play at UAT? It seems the current staff is mending fences in the Columbus area.

    It can be difficult to recruit in Columbus for a lot of reasons. What happened a couple of years ago with DeRon Furr and Jarmon Fortson did cause some bad blood with certain people. But Auburn is six weeks away from pulling one of the top prospects out of Columbus in Gabe Wright, so things are looking up.

    Crowell just prefers Georgia and Bama right now. That happens in recruiting.

  • Once again great update and really hope things work out as you have laid them out. Bryan are your numbers based on 25 commits allowed? I understand that some of our recruits will be enrolling early (January) will these individuals count towards this year’s total or do we have room to count them towards last year’s numbers?

    I can answer this one...we don't have any available scholarships to sign a JUCO or early enrollee into last year's class.

Offensive tackle could suddenly become the center piece of this class if we could grab him, Westerman, and Collins.

    He's definitely not "strongly considering" Auburn. He may visit but is very likely to sign with Alabama where his brother signed last year.

    Seems like "other sites" always like to get carried away.

    He recently dropped Miami from his top 5 and added Auburn. To me, that most likely means that Auburn was #6 and moved up to #5 with the staff change at Miami.

    It's one of those things where, "if you ain't first, you're last". I think moving from #6 to #5 probably made our chances of signing him move from 1% to 2%.
