I could buy excuses for why the offense looks horrible. CSL is over his head. Oline is so young. QB play has been horrible. Turnover margin has really hurt us. Injuries. Switch to pro-style. Lack of a 'big' back.

I could buy excuses for the defense not making the progress it should. CBVG only bringing one assistant. Pelton not getting much done on the DL. LB depth issues. CB injuries. Lack of forced turnovers. Change in defensive philosophies.

I could even let a 1-7 start and likely a 3-9 season go. Competitiveness through 3 quarters is a small win, I guess. I mean, a young team learns to close out games and the season could have been different. More senior leadership, better play here or there, a break here or there we could have easily been 6-2 this year.

I don't even care that our coaches don't offer any explanation to what has been a season of underachievements. We're fans. Surely the people that matter know the reasons the team has struggled so badly.

What I can absolutely not stand is the laxidasical, chopping wood approach to this season. We're 1-7. Where is the urgency? Where is the burning desire to win? The passion? Where's the player pride saying they aren't going to get walked on by the opposing team--the fight to beat the guy in front of you? I just can't believe that some of the interviews, you can't tell if we've just lost our 7th game or if they just won a trip to Disney World. Smh.
