There's no reason Auburn should have any problem with that. I'd pay $5M to get him. Would Jimbo be concerned about other issues that could kill a deal such as control? Would he be ok coming to work for Jacobs or an unnamed AD? It looks to me like JJ is going to be out too, but maybe not until the new coach is hired.

you come down on Jimbo awfully hard. maybe he is maybe he isnt. but if you're gonna make those claims at least offer your choice. just wondering who your OUTSTANDING hire would be? and dont say Gruden cause that's wishful thinking if you ask me

This is total bs. Look at the year by year records? LSU got better when he became OC there. FSU stayed about the same when he became their OC but they have improved drastically with him as their HC. Drastically.

What most people keep forgetting about Jimbo is that EJ MANUEL WAS HURT LAST YEAR!!!!

My God why is that so hard to understand? The only real "blemish" on Jimbo's record at FSU is going 9-4 last year (if you want to call that a blemish, still pretty good). But THREE of those losses came with EJ Manuel out injured. They were 9-1 with a healthy EJ Manuel. 0-3 with the backup. Does that make Jimbo a bad coach?

Hypothetically, what would you think about a coaching candidate that has this resume...

Powerhouse ACC school that had fallen on hard times and gone 7-6, 7-6, 9-4, 7-6 in 4 consecutive seasons. Promotes their hotshot OC to become the new head coach. He promptly goes 10-4, 11-2, 12-2 (that's what Jimbo's record would've looked like without an injured EJ Manuel most likely). In his 3rd year, they are 7-1 and lead the ACC in offense AND defense by a SIGNIFICANT margin. They have a top 2 defense nationally and a top 10 offense nationally. He recruits top 5 classes. He has recruited head to head against Saban and won those battles. He was a QB coach/coordinator in the SEC for about 10 years, with some of those being at Auburn which he loved. He coached under Saban for 4 years. He is an offensive minded coach that has developed several good QBs. LSU has not had a good QB coach since he coached there.

How could you turn your nose up at that? I mean I know we'd love to hire Jim Harbaugh, or Bill Bellicheck... but if you're realistic this is as good of a hire as we can make sans Bobby Petrino (and even that is splitting hairs).

Don't make the mistake of thinking if you want Petrino that means you have to downplay Jimbo. They're both good coaches and I'll be happy with either. But the dropoff after these 2 is significant.

FSU offense after Jimbo becomes HC:

So after one brief dip in production his offenses have produced atleast 30 points per game every year since he's been there after failing to do so in the 3 previous year's before his arrival. And now, in their 3rd year, with a healthy QB, they are scoring 44 points per game.
