What coaches have left for their "dream" job?

  • There is some understandable concern that Smart may leave for UGA or UA if that were his dream job.
I always hear talk of coaches having the "one job they really want (e.g. Miles to Michigan), but has that actually happened much?

I am sure from smaller schools to better schools but are there any good examples of people leaving equal jobs, or even stepping down to go their dream school?

    Just curious.

If Kirby takes this job, he is taking it for life.

I have always believed that if a successful coach wants to leave his current school in order to go to the school where he played and graduated, that he should get that pass with no hard feelings. If that happened with Smart, if he gets the job, it will be after atleast 5 or 6 successful years and he will be leaving the program on better ground that when he began. I can live with that.
