What I'm hearing on Bisaccia

  • PhillipMarshall said...

Here's the latest I'm hearing on the status of Auburn assistant coach Rich Biaccia:

    * Bisaccia has been offered, officially or unofficially, an opportunity to join the Dallas Cowboys as special teams coordinator for a lot more money than he makes or can make as Auburn's special teams coordinator/running backs coach.

    * As of 10 p.m., no one I talked to who was familiar with the situation believed Bisaccia had taken the job. However, the general feeling was that there was a good chance he would.

    * Bisaccia was out recruiting for Auburn on Wednesday night and is scheduled to be again Thursday, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Most coaches are committed to doing their jobs right up until the day they leave.

Using the expression that my wife hates "whatever".

  • This happened with Roof a year or so ago. Took the Central Florida job and left for Penn State. I know we don't like it but it's business. Happens all the time.

Thanks, Phillip. Any idea on the fall back position?

To the people saying bring back Boulware, he just got hired at Wisconsin. I want Duke's TEs/ST coach, Ron Middleton. He's an Auburn letterman and Dukes STs were really good this year.

Good idea!!! I don't hold to the idea that our coaching staff has to be completely made up of former AU players - just because their former Letterman doesn't mean they are great coaches (see Mike Pelton) but if the man can coach - I say bring him on!!!

Plus, I'd rather Bisaccia make the change sooner rather than later.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure it's a wonderful opportunity financially but I wouldn't touch a job with the Cowboys with a 10 foot pole, Dallas is a dumpster fire waiting to happen. That said, it he get's a $1,000,000 + or even double his pay at AU then I get that he might want to get his pay check and I for one don't have a problem with someone getting paid.

agreed - especially re the ploughboys, Can't stand them

  • Philip,

I got the sense when CRB was hired originally that, with his resume, he could have held out for an NFL job if that's what he really wanted. But instead he was intentionally deciding to come back to college, knowing that the $$ is less. If that was so, this seems a little bit of an about face. Is the $$ that the Cowboys are throwing around now that much better than what was otherwise anticipated to be available for an NFL job when he instead chose this one? Since its Jerry Jones I suppose it might be.

  • Bisaccia to Auburn never made sense anyway. I was surprised he joined this staff to begin with. Shame too, he was the best coach we had on staff.

    And so it begins....

  • I wonder if he liked the "thought" of coming back to the college game and got a little of dose of recruiting and didn't care too much for it. I could see that happening.

  • I would think he has better sense than to go work for J Jones. That douche bag will make your life miserable, and his meddling undermines his coaches and leads to their losing respect in the industry. Personally, I don't think much of this "It's a business" BS. He signed a contract with Auburn that stated he would be here for 2 or 3 years. If he wanted to stay in the pros he should have waited for an offer, not used us as a place holder. Giving him a pass because he is offered more money for the same job is ridiculous. It's like saying its ok to cheat on your wife as long as the person you are screwing is prettier. The seriousness of the two cannot be compared but the principle is the same. I hope he stays but I'm not holding my breath. It seems that for most people their word doesn't mean anything anymore.
