on this list, to me the names that really stand out are Gruden, O'Brien and Stoops (sure Jeff Fisher does but given where he is and his salary it doesn't seem realistic that he comes here)...

And if I was Gogue I would really, really, really go hard after Gruden. A Super Bowl winning pro coach in college would attract top level assistants and every recruit would be blown away playing for someone so well connected in the NFL - but the best reason is can you imagine how many of the top QB recruits would want to come to Auburn with the opportunity to develop under Gruden?! (The same might be said for O'Brien who has real NFL experience with probably the best offense in the past decade in the NFL's Patriots and a great reputation of developing QBs, after all Penn State's big QB recruit is sticking with them even after the sanctions....

Stoops is attractive because he has proven he can win at a college level - and by win I don't mean 8 or 9 games a year I mean National Championships which is what WE all think of as winning.

I am not really getting into evaluating the younger guns because I think our program needs someone right now who is a bit more towards the top of their profession - I mean we aren't a few tweaks or gimmick plays away from the top 5, we need a change in fundamental mindset and preparation to climb back up the mountain...

But my goodness, if Gruden really wants to hop back into coaching, is willing to do so in college (surely we are more attractive than Rocky Top?!), let's grab a pile of money and put him in charge of it all! I would miss him on TV but I'd sure buy AU tickets FAST!
