Walkoff heartbreaker for Auburn

Alabama clinches series on Taylor Dugas' two-out, two-run homer.

  • Same old @#$%! Can't win when it matters. Does Coach Pawlawski ever say anything different after a loss, or can we just tape one interview and replay it after every game!

  • Great job, Auburn. We go to UA 6-3 and we lose the first two games. I can't stand to lose
to Alabama. We should be playing better than we are.

Seriously! We lost both games due to three pitches, this is how college baseball is, Auburn is still a pretty damn good team, Dugas has carried them for most of the year and he made a clutch hit because he is a great player, it not the same old #$%&! Its baseball

That's just it! Baseball is not just about three pitches, it's about every play all day long. You can't walk a #9 hitter in the ninth innning, or hesitate on a throw to second to prevent a double play, or get picked off first base when you are the slowest guy on the team anyway, or any number of fundamental mistakes we continue to make. Ability has a lot to do with who wins and loses, but if you do not do the fundamentals, you usually don't have a chance anyway.

  • We walked a pitch hitter hitting .200. You have the bottom of the lineup at bat and issue a walk. No reason. That, stupid base running and defense is why we lost. We need the win Sunday.

  • I agree with barbeedoll - if you are going to walk the number 9 guy, go ahead and walk their best batter. I started to say before the series that if this was last year's team we would be swept by Bama. You come in with a great opportunity against one of the worst records in the SEC and get swept and miss the NCAA tournament. Lo and behold - we are potentially "one pitch" or "three pitches" or "bad base running" away from being swept this weekend.

I bet we beat those guys by 7 runs today. In stroke play that would give us the series... ;)
