  • While I totally subscribe to Chizik's staying in control of himself under any public appearance, I do not subscribe to the opinions concerning Coach Boom Muschamp without some reservation. First, football is an emotional game. Players and Coaches want to win. What results coming from emotion is frequetly amiss. Further, one of our emotions when an ace q'back that's killing our team goes back and a 260 pound DE eludes his blocker and is lined up to get a whale of a shot from the blind side might be worse than profanity. And, the subjective calls stem from the fair catch wave being later than it could have been and was awfully quick. Very weak. Off course it was quick and of course it could have been given ten yards from the Auburn man than five as has been stated. Of course, as some say, the purpose for AUC is to provide an outlet for what we feel. I hope what some miniority might feel is accepted without rancor.
And coach Muschamp did release a Florida player to Auburn without a years delay. That was very classy and I respect him, no it's more than respect its appreciation for it. That the NCAA ruled differently is beside the point. The guy is a lot better in character than some say. Beside Meyer, he's a gem, and Meyer probably doesn't say words like Muschamp said.

  • I remember when Muschamp was at AU during a game against Ark he used the MF'er word while celebrating a good hit. Personally I was not offended at all I liked the emotion and the excitement he shared with the players. Not trying to make excuses for the outburst. but while I played way back in high school our coaches talked about the same there just wasnt mikes around.

  • They would have ejected a player for much less than that. I believe coaches ought to set an example for players. I'd like to see some coaches start to get ejected when a tirade crosses the line. His, in my opinion, clearly crossed the line.

  • Could you really simply say maturity. Perhaps the level of envolvement be related to the lack of maturity to seperate emotion from cool actions?

  • Look, It's football. Foul language is allowed. Now if Will Muschamp or any other coach comes to YOUR place of work, or your home and starts dropping f-bombs all over then you've got a case. Until then just shut it. He had a legit argument there anyway.

I respect everyone's opinion, but some of you are forgetting how violent the sport is. The emotion it takes to play the game of football at the D-1 and NFL level is crazy. Because you see and hear the hits on television and in person is not enough. Those collisions are tough. These coaches have to get across to these guys while they are in a high emotional state. That is the only way you can play the game. Muschamp is the type of coach I grew up with. I see nothing wrong with him going off and fighting for his guys. Some people want understand because they never played.

  • Simply put. His behavior will be acceptable by the Florida fans and the media as long as he wins; heck it will be probably be credited as the reason he wins. That being said, if he doesn't win with Florida's talents and riches then his tirades will wear thin in a couple of years. I look at him as the SEC's version of Bo Pelini.

The use a latent profanity by coaches on the sideline, even at his own players, has led to a young player, a recruit I know, to decide he will not play for a coach. Simple as that. Respect and dignity are earned and dog-cussing a player in a pre-game setting with violent profanity are not a sign of either.

  • I'm going to get a little philosophical here and know many may not agree with my thoughts. When it comes to what we all consider 4 letter words (profanity) there are three 4 letter words that are without a doubt the most heinous to me; hate, rape and kill. Now these are words that offend me not because of the sound of them but what they actually mean. All other 4 letter words (profanity) just isn't worth my time to get upset over or judgmental towards someone for using them. Just seems to me some get worked up over the little things and completely disregard the important things.

I get it. That's not my point. My point is, he will never be a successful football coach until he tones it down. That's my opinion. Wait and see if it plays out ...

I disagree. Saban shows his emotions the same way as Muschamp does, and I think we would all classify him as a successful football coach (even though we wish he wasn't).

Emotion & intensity has helped Muschamp get this far in his coaching career. I think he'll end up being successful but I would really be surprised if he ever tones it down.

  • I like Boom, always have. The passion is great and I can tell you from playing football that you hear worse than than everyday in practice. Now that we have beaten UF, I hope they win every game. I couldn't stand pompous Urban, but I love Muschamp!
