I hate to admit it - but I grew up a uat fan ( my dad was a fan). My brother was at Auburn. He had a car. I didn't. So when I graduated high school it dawned on me that I'd have to get to a college campus somehow. So I rode with him and enrolled at Auburn. I saw the light in 1976 and have never looked back. The only time in my life when not having a car turned out well.

Not sure when it happened but glad it did, My parents are both Damn Yankees and my older sister is a UGA alum. But I have been an Auburn Fan as long as I can remember, it was the only school I applied for and attended.

We are "adopted" members of the Auburn family. When we moved to Helena (B'ham area) in 1975, one of our first neighbors was an engineer with Alabama Power and a proud Auburn alum. He would invite us down to Auburn football/basketball games. My dad was a UK alum and one of my earliest memories was watching UK, with Kyle Macey and Charles Hurt, play at Auburn.

A second, less pleasant memory, involved a UK football game in Tuscaloosa. Bama won by about 50 points. My dad had his UK cap on (this was late 70's) and I just remember people yelling at us, cursing, and making fun of my dad/us for wearing the hat. As a young man, I was confused as to why they seemed so angry after winning by 7 touchdowns.

My dad grew up in Roan Mtn, TN, and watched Sonny Smith play basketball in eastern TN and western NC. He was a big fan so he would send us to his basketball camps down at Auburn. I was at Sonny's AU camp when Charles Barkely learned he had been drafted by the Sixers. I was so excited b/c my two favorite players, Dr. J and Barkley, were going to be on the same team. Charles told us to stay in school (even though he left early) and to go to church and then played in a pick up/exhibition game in which he dropped some expletives that I had never heard before.

I think what sealed the deal for us is that our high school played McAdory and Thompson and every year and Pat Dye signed Bo Jackson and Arthur Johnson in the early 1980s. We've been Tigers ever since.

Although none of my family ended up going to Auburn, my brother and I did make it out to AZ for the championship game. Our greatest Auburn memory ever.

First generation AU. My parents were both big Alabama fans, father got his law degree for UA. However, I just loved AU from birth. My wife is AU alum and I live in Auburn. I did not go to AU, had scholarship and received my degrees from another institution but have always loved AU. The first season I truly remember is the 1993 season.

First football game was at Legion field when I was maybe 7-8. Being a country boy from southeast Alabama, that part of Birmingham sorta scared me. In fifth grade one of my best friends invited me to an Auburn vs. Tennessee game. Traveling to Auburn from Dothan is still rural but back then it was nothing but woods, pastures an occasional church and maybe a juke joint or two. Next thing I know the fields and woods gave way and we entered a little town and I can still remember seeing the campus and then Jordan Hare for the first time. When I walked through the tunnel and saw the grass and players warming up it was, and still is, what I like to call a "chill bump moment". I got home that night and told my dad (NC State alum) about my trip, and he ordered season tickets for us the next year. He always pulled hard for the Tigers, so I always do the same for the Wolfpack.
