  • How did u become an Auburn fan? For me it was from birth. My dad was the biggest Auburn fan i have ever known. He took me to my first game when i was 8. We saw the undefeated 93 team play Southen Miss. Thomas Bailey caught a TD right in front of me and I was hooked. I lost my dad in '07 but still sometimes during the ball games I still feel like we're connected. I know its stupid but Auburn football brought me and my dad closer and for that reason I will always be an Auburn fan. WDE

  • Married into it. From Texas so AU/uat didn't matter to me. My Wife of 12 years is alum 1982/2011. Started attending games, fell in love with the University, the team, the "Family". Now as big or bigger fan than her.

I used to complain about having no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet

I was born.into.it also, both my.parents are auburn fans, my dad passed away in 1995, I sometimes feel like he's watching the games with me, my.most cherished memory is me and him were replacing the shingles on the pool house and was listening to the undefeated season (1994) iron bowl on the radio and I can still remember Jim fyffe chanting 11 and 0

  • My best friend in preschool and elementary was born into a huge AU family (both parents were AU grads). At age 6, I asked my dad (BIG Bama fan) to buy me an AU sweatshirt to see what his reaction would be. He bought it because he wanted me to make my own decisions (his words, not mine). My love for AU grew stronger over the years in spite of being one of only 3 AU fans at our 30+ person family functions. WDE

  • I hate to admit it - but I grew up a uat fan ( my dad was a fan). My brother was at Auburn. He had a car. I didn't. So when I graduated high school it dawned on me that I'd have to get to a college campus somehow. So I rode with him and enrolled at Auburn. I saw the light in 1976 and have never looked back. The only time in my life when not having a car turned out well.

  • I grew up in a house full of uat fans. I have always been rebelious since birth, so when they watched the game i cheered against them. So the ultimate thing was to go for Auburn so I did. I was about 5 or 6 and it has grown into a life style for me. My mother still has pictures of me when i was 4 or 5 in a bama uniform. I also moved to mississippi for about three years and got married over there and my wife was an ole miss fan but now she loves auburn. WDE

  • Not sure when it happened but glad it did, My parents are both Damn Yankees and my older sister is a UGA alum. But I have been an Auburn Fan as long as I can remember, it was the only school I applied for and attended.

I also grew up in a house of Bama fans in Birmingham. Had some friends who were Auburn fans when I was 4 or 5 and it just stuck. Not an easy thing growing up in Birmingham in the 70s. Dad would take me to Bama games at Legion Field but I would have no part of it. Brother converted to Bama at about age 12 but not me. Never looked back...

We are "adopted" members of the Auburn family. When we moved to Helena (B'ham area) in 1975, one of our first neighbors was an engineer with Alabama Power and a proud Auburn alum. He would invite us down to Auburn football/basketball games. My dad was a UK alum and one of my earliest memories was watching UK, with Kyle Macey and Charles Hurt, play at Auburn.

A second, less pleasant memory, involved a UK football game in Tuscaloosa. Bama won by about 50 points. My dad had his UK cap on (this was late 70's) and I just remember people yelling at us, cursing, and making fun of my dad/us for wearing the hat. As a young man, I was confused as to why they seemed so angry after winning by 7 touchdowns.

My dad grew up in Roan Mtn, TN, and watched Sonny Smith play basketball in eastern TN and western NC. He was a big fan so he would send us to his basketball camps down at Auburn. I was at Sonny's AU camp when Charles Barkely learned he had been drafted by the Sixers. I was so excited b/c my two favorite players, Dr. J and Barkley, were going to be on the same team. Charles told us to stay in school (even though he left early) and to go to church and then played in a pick up/exhibition game in which he dropped some expletives that I had never heard before.

I think what sealed the deal for us is that our high school played McAdory and Thompson and every year and Pat Dye signed Bo Jackson and Arthur Johnson in the early 1980s. We've been Tigers ever since.

Although none of my family ended up going to Auburn, my brother and I did make it out to AZ for the championship game. Our greatest Auburn memory ever.

  • Born with Orange and Blue in my blood. 5th generation Auburn grad on my mom's side. My dad and his side are 95% Bama fans. My mother and my middle brother (Bama fan) pull for the other side if they are not playing their team. My youngest brother is an Auburn fan. But my dad hates Auburn as much as I hate Bama. The funniest thing was to watch him come to Homecoming/parent's day when I was a Tiger Host. He still refused to to say War Eagle. I respected him for that. I can't see any scenario where I'd ever utter the words "Roll Tide".

  • First generation AU. My parents were both big Alabama fans, father got his law degree for UA. However, I just loved AU from birth. My wife is AU alum and I live in Auburn. I did not go to AU, had scholarship and received my degrees from another institution but have always loved AU. The first season I truly remember is the 1993 season.

  • I spent my first seven years of life in Germany with only one English speaking channel on tv. So, the only football I knew about was pro. When I moved to the wonderful city of Huntsville, AL I had no idea about college let alone college football. My first day of school during recess a few kids cornered me and asked "Alabama or Auburn?" they were pretty rude and wearing mostly crimson so I responded with AU. Needless to say I was not that "popular" new kid.

Plus throughout my life there have been many influential adults in my life(pastors, teachers) who were bammers and even though they were all great people when it came to football season they all became very arrogant. That just confirmed that I had made the right choice when I was 7.

First football game was at Legion field when I was maybe 7-8. Being a country boy from southeast Alabama, that part of Birmingham sorta scared me. In fifth grade one of my best friends invited me to an Auburn vs. Tennessee game. Traveling to Auburn from Dothan is still rural but back then it was nothing but woods, pastures an occasional church and maybe a juke joint or two. Next thing I know the fields and woods gave way and we entered a little town and I can still remember seeing the campus and then Jordan Hare for the first time. When I walked through the tunnel and saw the grass and players warming up it was, and still is, what I like to call a "chill bump moment". I got home that night and told my dad (NC State alum) about my trip, and he ordered season tickets for us the next year. He always pulled hard for the Tigers, so I always do the same for the Wolfpack.
