I would like to know everyone's opinion on these 2 questions. NOT what you predict, or expect, but the tipping point that changes your position about HCGC future. (no witty answers please, just a honest opinion).

    1. What would it take for HCGC to keep his job?

    2. What would it take for HCGC to get fired at the end of this season?

    1. 6-6 or 7-5, neither of which is a real possibility.
    2. The status quo.

  • The problem with chizik is two-fold:

    1) The day Gus Malzhan departed Auburn for Arkansas St. was devastating for Chizik, it was his unicorn. We politely fired the wrong coach!

    2) Chizik has a problem relating to players. Read Bryan's story on Recruiting Do-Overs.

Chizik would need to beat both Georgia and Bama to retain his job. That ain't gonna happen!

    1. Keeps his job if JJ keeps his.

    2. Loses job if JJ loses his.

This is probably the best answer. And it's pretty intriguing as well.

This line is from Jacobs' Wikipedia page....

"The public perception of the 2008 coaching search was so negative [5] that it created a groundswell of opposition to Jacobs by many Auburn fans, students and alumni. [6][7] However, Jacobs was later vindicated when Chizik, in his second year, won the 2010 BCS National Championship."

The question is....what's the next sentence now? What should come after that, as it's not the end of the story.

"Jacobs was later un-vindicated from his previous vindication, as the next two years showed that Chizik had won that title with Cam Newton and a core of mature, experienced players that had been taught by the previous coaching staff. On Tuesday, November 26, both Jacobs and Chizik were fired by Auburn President Jay Gogue"

    OR

"Jacobs was again under fire when the football team finished the season with a 4-8 record. However, after dealing with heavy scrutiny yet again, he was vindicated again as Chizik led the 2013 team to a 11-2 record and a victory over Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl."

    1. Jacobs to remain as AD.

    2. Jacobs to be fired as AD.

    Simple as that.

Sad but true. One of the hardest things to do is fire someone that attends bible studies with you.

  • I think a coach who helped bring us a national title gets a mulligan for a year.

Even if this year at 6 games already feels like a slate of 12 games plus a bowl game.

After that even Chizik would tell you if he couldn't circle the wagons with his players and his coaches and his processes it's time to move on.

This year is his mulligan. Before I traveled to Oxford last weekend to see the Ole Miss game I was right where you are. Let him come back for 2013, but after having seen the lack of improvement week after week against inferior teams I have come to the conclusion that it is not worth the risk to give hem one more year. Being outscored 62-3 in the 4th quarter is a glaring indictment.

    2011

    Arkansas...L 14–38
    LSU...........L 10–45
    Georgia.....L 7–45
    Alabama....L 14–42

  • I don't think he has to get the team to 6-6, as long as therre are no more blowouts. If he can get us to be competetive in SEC games and win 4 of the last 6, I think he has a chance to stay. To get fired, keep doing what we have been doing.
