Just another reason to hope that sorry piece of garbage gets what he deserves. Not only does he kill them, our judicial system won't let me hear about it.

I've heard one is almost completely dead. Will be replaced in early 2013. The other one is trying to survive, but probably won't make it. Not sure when it'll be relaced. Both are to be trimmed for this season, but still can be rolled (14 times).

I'm not by any means offical so I guess I can tell you how I see them.

As of about a month ago they both appeared to have been fatally done in by some malcontent who thinks of himself as a hero of the less than 80 IQ club.

The one closest to the corner has more of the original tree remaining but basically looks like it is on it's last leg as a tree and destined to die. The other looks as though it would have a chance to claim the AU spirit as hanging on to the very end with about a forth living but it would be many years before it would take more than a dozen rolls paper to fill it up.

I'm sure there is enough documentation to have a world renowned artist duplicate both with a lifesize bronze replacement for which I think the judge should require Updyck to pay the full cost and be present at the offical unvailing.

I further rant, Harvy should also have to watch the Toomers live cam replay of the 2010 NCS celibration 24/7 for the rest of his miserable life!

Call me a Toomers Corner Tree Hugger, I was there when the modern day tradition began!

Here's the latest from The War Eagle Reader. Knowing of course that AU's going to win some big games this year, they're going to cut all the dead wood out tomorrow to reduce the chances of any limbs breaking and falling when placed under the additional weight of the toilet paper.

After the season, the trees will be removed and replaced with overcup oaks, probably 300-gallon container grown trees which will be about 40' tall and maybe 8" diameter. I hope that they rip up more of the pavement to give the trees a larger rooting area, and also move them back from the road a bit while keeping the same general orientation. I am a '06 forestry grad, so I have full confidence in the staff at both the School of Forestry and the Horticulture Dept. to get this right.
