Tired of the silence

  • Our athletic dept has to be doing something to correct this horrific season. Can't anybody shed some light on whats going on within the program. I'm sick of all the silence, it is like a dark cloud hanging over the program not knowing what the future holds. If we are gonna fire people or look at coaches, or whatever, someone should just say so. Its not gonna make or break our season, and if anything i think it would bring more stability with recruits and the team. My worry is that major changes are not on the way and Chizik gets another year to redeem himself.

I don't blame any Auburn fan for being frustrated. It frankly amazes me the lack of leadership in the athletic department right now. How Auburn can be going through one of its worst seasons in school history and the AD remains mute on the subject is baffling.

Not sure if you'll get any answers before the end of the season but I can guarantee you change is coming.

  • Thanks Bryan, It is a little encouraging just to know change is coming. Still our leadership is amazingly quiet at the moment.

    AUBIE80

  • Is that change going to be the headcoach?

    mee

  • honestly? how can you not know what's going on?
Chizik is gone. A new coach won't be named until his regular season is complete.

  • I just hope the new regime will have more of a "60 minutes" attitude, than "were still young, rebuilding" attitude! The silence is DEAFENING, if you ask me.

The more time passes the more your major concerns will come to pass. Then we will have to wait until after NSD for CGC to hire staff replacements. CSL and Mike Pelton need to go IMO
We will get the same ole line from CGC. He will tell us his choice was always his first choice. It all is a bunch of Bull Crap. Gogue, JJ, CGC are like PBO and Lybia. They will drag their feet to prolong the truth and hope the people are stupid enough to accept it.

I wish I could be so certain about change coming. Too much buy out money needed just to send this staff packing.

  • The Process

Step 1. When problem occurs - hope it gets better.

Step 2. If problem persists - hope it gets better.

Step 3. If problem starts getting out of hand, finally admit there is a problem - hope it gets better.

Step 4. Choice A - If you plan to remove the person responsible for the problem, give a vote of confidence and move to cut the feet out from under the guy.
Choice B - If you plan to keep the person responsible for the problem, promise a review and whatever is necessary and define the least amount change acceptable and will cost the least amount money - hedge your bets by putting feelers out - hopes it gets better.

Step 5. If person responsible for the problem is to be salvaged, he must accept defined changes.
5a. If changes accepted allow person to go forward while isolating that person in case changes defined were not enough - hope it gets better.
5b. If changes were rebuffed move to dismiss.

Step 6. Check status of Apple Cart and see if it is stabilized.

Step 7. If all is well continue forward, if not, go back to Step 1

Thanks Bryan. Change can't happen quick enough.

  • Well, what "we" think has to be done and what "they" think has to be done are often two different things.

The buyout has not and will not be an issue when it comes to a decision on Chizik and his staff.

  • I get more of a feeling of the calm before the storm. JJ has to know what's comming. CgC has to know what's coming.

What is going to be interesting to me is what will happen Dec 1. Chiz out? Whole staff out? AD whole staff out?

I think we start at the top and JJ, Chiz the whole staf all get cleaned out. The next AD finds his man at HC and the HC has and gives full autonomy for staff hires. And he let's the Coords chose or bring their guys. And not this control freak crap we have had recently.

  • The atletic department needs an enema and it needs to start TODAY. I keep hoping to check AUC and hear about a press conference in which JJ and Chizik are let go together.

I was upset when Chizik was hired, then I was fooled by him in 2010 and now I'm just ready for him to be gone. I think he probably is a decent man, but he is a mediocre head coach. I just hope more thought is put into the next head coaching hire than was put into the Chizik hire.

Agree Bryan.....I think what will happen is that once the "door of change' is opened, then we will be inundated with a lot of changes. This is the quiet before the storm.....and I think it will be Katrina-like as far as cleaning out the AD and coaching staff. I actually think that the new HC will be a great hire and the new coordinators will keep most of this class together.

NOTE: I am not an insider and only making supposition (based on a few conersations with a few high up AU folks).

I like that, "the athletic department needs an enema." We had the 15 months long colonoscopy at the hands of the NCAA. A good cleaning usually occurs before the colonoscopy. moon

any time the head coach is out all the assistants are out also. You never retain assistants after firing a HC. The new HC will have the option of retaining any assistants he wants.

  • I would think remaining silent is important. Too many big (elephant) ears do not need to hear about "the plan." Just be patient people. Patience is almost as important as forgiveness....it's a virtue and a fruit.

Not trying to be ugly but it kind of sound like something from a fotune cookie:
