This hiring process STINKS to high heaven...

Might want to go back and check the tape. I don't think he said he would bring in a proven HC. I remember him being asked about coordinators and HC and he said he wanted a proven winner.

He never said he was going to hire a proven head coach. He said specifically that he wouldn't rule out a top assistant when asked. Here's a quote from his press conference...
"We are going to take the time that is necessary to find a person with a proven track record, a person who plays by the rules and someone that will continue to build on the student-athletes' success academically."

Well that should rule out smart, if hes been coaching in sucaloosa for the past few years, he hasnt been playiing by the rules. AU doesnt cheat to the likes of bama therefore will not be getting the players in abundance for this unproven head coach. Alot of folks was crying foul when Malzahn was mentioned because he hasnt been head coach long enough but thinks KS is gonna be the saving grace just because hes tootled under the anointed one. Those that believe that are gonna be sorely disappointed and will be right back here gripping to RS and PM at the list of candidates in a few years.

He said proven winner. He neversaid proven head coach. He was asked specifically if it had to be a head coach and he said no.
