The bar is high due to Saban's rapid success at uat. Sorry, but nobody is close to that bar even though he gets beat once in awhile. You cannot find a coach close to him at this point. It's the truth like it or not. He has the tools.... 1.) Recruits at the highest level. 2.) Teaches fundamentals of offense & defense. 3.) 100% of the time can go toe to toe with any other coach. Rarely does he get out-coached. 4.) Demanding of himself and others within the "process". 5.) REC
Name ONE other coach that has all 5 of these? We just have to get as many of the 5 as possible from one guy. I think Smart or Gus can give us 4 of the 5.

I by no means whatsoever will say I support Jay Jacobs, but I don't think Kirby Smart would be nearly as bad of a hire as you're making him out to be
TRUE - he has no head coaching experience
TRUE - it doesn't seem like we have any competition to get him *key word SEEM
Interesting thought - our defense was equal to or possibly less than what our offense was, broken tackle after broken tackle,
georgia bulldogs in 1999 kirby smart was the administrative assistant went 8-4
losing only to:
Tennessee 20-37 (tennessee went 10-1 that season)
Florida 14-30 (florida went 9-4 that season)
AUBURN 21-38 (Tuberville's last year - this was auburn's biggest win of 99)
Georgia Tech 48-51 (georgia tech also went 8-4)valdosta state in 1999 Kirby Smart was the DB coach and while they did not fair well he did well enough to get promoted to DC in 2000 where he carried the blazers to a 10-2 season. (not a big college but a place he learned some and did well as a defensive coordinator)
he went on to graduate assistant to Bobby Bowden in 2002 and 2003
2002 FSU went 9 – 5
2003 FSU went 10 – 3he went on to spend 2004 under Nick Saban
2004 LSU went 10 – 3he then went on to coach RBs at Georgia in 2005

Division Place 2nd AFC Eastand do i really need to elaborate on his stats at Bammer U? He may not have those HC credentials that so many want but he has proven himself time and time again as a great coach at whatever position the put him at. Auburn could be his launching grounds I strongly believe that he would fight HARDER against Saban too because that would prove so much. As for why other Universities don't seem to be gunning for him perhaps they just don't feel they stand a chance?
