One of my favorite plays that I've seen in the last 5 years was 2 guards pulled (Green and Isom I believe) and going down the right sideline. They both made devastating blocks and then you see Ben Tate streak down the sideline for a HUGE gain. It was one of my favorites because from the camera angles it was easy to see how the play developed and everything was executed to perfection. And seeing two 300+ pound Offensive Linemen streaking down the sideline blowing up linebackers and safeties... gave me chills. Throw "The Juggernaut" in there and you have the makings of a power run game unmatched in the league.

That was based on the centers call. To send both guards we called "truck" it was based on the center seeing that the backside DT (or noseguard depending on verbege) was lined up close enough for the center to block back so that the backside guard could pull cleanly and get to the edge ahead of the RB. We also had "tank" where the center and playside guard pulled so that the backside guard could stay and seal the DT when we saw a wide eagle or reduced front. Back when we had Rudi we ran another one where we pulled pulled both guards and the playside tackle and lead with a fullback (kid from bayou la batre cant remember his name). We blocked down with the TE on the 3 tech, blocked back to the 1 tech with the center and the backside tackle climbed under the DE to the WLB. The playside guard either kicked out or cut the DE, the playside tackle found the force in the lane (usually the SS) and the backside guard found either Mike or Sam. It was beautiful.

  • Our offense will be a mix and with no especial emphasis on running or passing. We will likely start out run heavy, as CSL says but soon our opponents will start stacking box to challenge KF's passing ability until proved otherwise. Likely see more passing unless more and frequent interceptions occur in which case we will resort to the predictable runs - and get squashed - or rely more on screen passes which may work a bit at first until they double cover PL and our wideouts more. If nothing much is happening at this point, expect to see a change in QB again. Now, if several of our our wide receivers (Blake, Benton, Bray, Coates, Reed, Denson, Stallworth, Ricardo, Williams, etc) are playing lights out we will be unstoppable assuming superior RB play from our young stable.
