You forgot completely irrelevant in the past 12+ years, douchebag. In that time Auburn has won a National Title, 2 SEC Championships, 2 undefeated seasons, has a Heisman winner, and Tennessee hasn't beaten us since what? 1999? Auburn is currently a more prestigious program. No one thinks of Tennessee as a top program anymore and Auburn is about to fall into the crap of the SEC too if we don't make the right hire.

Your original question was, and I quote: "How in the hell is Tennessee a more prestigious program than Auburn?"
Now, if you'd have asked "How in the hell is Tennessee considered a better program in the last 12 years?" I wouldn't have responded.
Everything I posted is factually correct, and those are reasons why Tennessee could legitmately be considered a more successful - and therefore prestigious - program that Auburn. I could've also added how the national perception of their athletic department as a whole is considerably higher than ours, but I assumed you were limiting the discussion to football only.
It's my opinion that the knee-jerk reaction to any perceived slight on AU's football program relative to our SEC brethren is a large part of why we keep finding ourselves in the situation we are in currently. It certainly might explain why our last two Athletic Directors seem to have been hired based on a search limited to candidates located within 100 feet of the Lovelace Museum.
And finally - douchebag? Was that really necessary?

Yes, actually it was considering you made the entire post into a sarcastic, I'm smarter than you post. But hey it happens.
As of now, Tennessee is not a more prestigious program than Auburn. Even Ron said so and he knows more than both you and I combined.

Posting what many already knew and what those who are against him are going to disect and deny. When it comes down to it, college football is a business. It is win or be gone. Petrino really is the only one that could come in and know what to do to right the ship immediately.
I honestly understand people's reservations about Petrino, I really do. But people are so dead set on judging him and automatically assuming he's going to come in and do that same stuff. Ron, you already said it that the guy is remoresful for what has happened in his past. He has always wanted the Auburn job and I truly do not believe he would make the same mistakes he has previously. He knows what happened almost completely ended him, and he also knows that he can't screw up again or he truly will be blacklisted. I think if BVG were to stay and get some time to develop these guys and with Petrino running the offense that Auburn would become a perennial elite power.
Either way, people are not going to be swayed by anything other than letting the entire situation play out. I've been talkin about it to no avail with Petrino haters and they think I've as equally wrong as I believe them to be. It'll play out and I sincerely hope, in my mind at least, that Petrino is the guy to come in and fix Auburn football....Because what we have seen the past two years is not Auburn football.

But here's what you cannot do. You cannot be one of those "Auburn family," "all-in" guys who praised Chizik's integrity while looking down your nose at Saban and, yes, Petrino. You can't have it both ways. Sort of reminds me of the old joke that ends, "We have determined what you are, young lady, we are now just haggling over the price." Fire Chizik, hire integrity or lose it.
