Thank goodness Brian McCann suxes so much or else

  • he wouldn't have crushed that grand slam against Halladay to tie this baby up. Maybe Mr. Insider should be given some sort of genius, Nostradamus type award or something. Maybe he will start a post everyday of who he is betting on for the night so we can get some action on the other side.

I don't care about Alabama baseball. He didn't even play a game for them. On other side, I am a die hard fan for the Braves for very long time as well as Auburn football. Majority, he is a big part of the Braves clubhouse. Oh, by the way... Tim Hudson is my favorite baseball player and he did play a game(s) for Auburn! coffee

  • Yes he hit a huge homer last night... So quick to forget how he let a ball past him the night before in the 8th to allow the go ahead run..... and he also has the lowest BA of any starter on the Braves right now so lets please not start going crazy.

I swear you people are ridiculous. You will defend anyone that plays for a team you love. Don't get me wrong, I love BMac too and will defend the players I love to a point but he is not the best Catcher in baseball and he is not worth over 14mil/year that he will ask for in years to come.

Ok Mr. Baseball Guru, who could we possibly pick up that's better than McCann? Look at McCann's stats and what he has done for the Braves...Plus, he is just an overall likeable guy. I guarantee you analysts would tell you he is worth the money.

For some teams he would be well worth the money but is he worth the money for the Braves. I'm not saying the next catcher the Braves have will be as good as McCann and I agree he has done a ton for the Braves.

If you had the choice as a BRAVES fan (not a McCann worshiper) next year once Chipper leaves would you rather have McCann at catcher, Prado at 3rd, Diaz in LF or Josh Hamilton in left, Prado at 3rd, Bethancourt/Ross at C.

I just think its better interest of the Braves organization to let him go if he requires that much money. I would rather see it spent on a big OF or 3B. McCann puts up great #'s for a catcher but its nowhere near the #'s a big OF bat can put up. I really do appreciate McCann but I don't think he can be the centerpiece of an organization playing catcher. I think he is better suited to go the AL.

I'm not a McCann worshipper by any means, but the constant whining gets old when he has done a lot for the Braves. I would love to have the scenario that you proposed, but that isn't going to happen with Hamilton.

  • I was at the game last night. Interestingly, so was Coach Chizik and his son. The flashed them up on the jumbotron right before McCann crushed his grand slam to tie up the game.

He married an Auburn girl and is an Auburn fan. He only signed with them, but knew he wasn't going to play there.

You're arguing about this is a waste of time. I seriously doubt Brian will be back with the Braves next year, let alone sign an extension. They will need to start investing money in their pitchers and Freeman/Heyward will take up most of the money Brian and Chipper are making. LOL at the Braves getting Josh Hamilton. IF the Rangers don't resign him he will command a lot more money than the braves could afford to give him. It's going to be hard to compete with big time free agents while the Braves are owned by Liberty Media.

Yea I agree the chances of signing Hamilton are slim to none but a man can dream right? I expect as you are saying McCann will leave and the Braves will spend the extra money on the pitching, Freeman, and Heyward... which will suck because without Brian and Chipper the Braves are going to be in a lot of trouble.
