Thank God for the Bama Recruiter that Recruited Bo

  • How things could have been different if that recruiter had not told Bo he would not play until his Junior year at Bama. And, thank God for Pat Dye for telling him he would give him a chance to play as a freshman. The rest is history. Pat was smart enough to see what Bo had and that, to me, was the start of turning Auburn Football around in the early 80's. We were able to get Bo to the plains and Dye was the hard-nosed coach that Auburn needed and the 80's were a great decade in Auburn Football history.

I thought the 30 for 30 special was pretty good last night but they needed more time because there are a lot more amazing stories that could have been told.

Don't get me wrong; I love Sullivan and Newton but there is just something about Bo that makes my heart smile every time I see him or hear something about him. He has been so great for Auburn both on and off the field. He is such a class act and such a great ambassador for Auburn. He really put Auburn on the map.

I really hate that he suffered that hip injury because he was so special and it is no telling what else he would have accomplished in his athletic endeavors. To me he is the greatest athlete that has roamed this earth and a lot of Auburn people know that. I wish he would have had more time in both sports because how cool would it have been if he would have made it into the hall of fame in both baseball and football.

War Eagle!!!! Thank you Bo Jackson!!!!!!

  • Yep, that's definitely one where their arrogance bit them in the rear.

  • Bo Jackson is a wonderful man, on & off the field. My husband had an opportunity to meet him earlier this year for the "Bo Bikes Bama," an event that raised money for the tornado victims. He rode along side him, and never felt intimidated by him. He treated everyone with class, and genuine interest in them.

At one point, Bo had just finished a long, uphill climb and was understandably tired. At the top of the hill were these two young boys that had made a sign, "Go Bo Go," and Bo stopped to chat with them, and thank them for being there. Talk about setting a good example. There ya go.

I appreciated the fine example he's been to countless young men. God Bless Bo Jackson.
