Here is the biggest issue for me.... Manti was an academic all american. This tels me he would be smart enough to know he was being scamed.
Also very funny that now even the national media is trying to cover this up and make him look like an innocent victim. Funny what perception does for clarity in situations like this!

The truth will come out. I think he is gay and created this girlfriend to hide that he is gay. So he made up a girlfriend to get people to stop trying to set him up where he might be exposed. Then someone said hey when do we get to meet her? so she "dies" and that gives him a good excuse to not be ready to date anyone else. Then a little lie leads to another lie and so on and so on.
Don't buy it? ask yourself this question. If you are the stud football player at a football obsessed university and you have girls throwing themselves at you (and you are a 21year old normal male) why would you opt for an internet relationship?
why would you not want to meet this person face to face on the internet or skype or face time or something?

Bruh...
Just cause he said that he tried to meet her does not mean that it is true.
Just cause you have been seen around campus with girls does not mean that you have relations with them.
Every teenager knows how to Skype or facetime. That allows you to have face to face conversations with people over the internet. So you can see each other.... bruh
I am not bashing gays with my comments, just putting a theory out there.

It happens every Monday on my television.
As stated by myself and others in this thread Academic intelligence does not equate to emotional intelligence. Te'o by all appearances wasn't in a "committed" relationship with Lennay. And Te'o was in constant contact with people he thought were Lennay's family members. His grandmother and Lennay both died on the same day. Whose funeral do you go to, your grandmothers or some chick you've never met?

He's a college football player in South Bend, Indiana, when do you think he's going to have time to fly to California to visit a grave site in the middle of football season?
As far as reality TV, obviously a lot of "reality" TV is scripted. I don't believe that to be the case in this instance.
