You may have been asking PM, but I would say he'd be a little too small. He would make big plays and a lot of tackles in pursuit, but would also be overmatched when trying to get off blocks from a OL or TE in run defense with the run coming straight at him.

Thats all well and good, but if they don't wrap up it's useless. The main thing I want coach Ellis to address is the shoulder bumping. That drives me insane to watch a player shoulder bump the ball carrier and expect him to fall down. I'm 50 yrs old so things may have changed but the last time I looked, you can't run on your back, stomach or on your head. WRAP UP!

Love his philosophy! You can scheme and plan all you want but inevitably nothing ever goes as planned. Sound fundamentals and trust that the other 10 men on the field are doing their jobs will always be more vital in the end. WDE!

It's not all about the players though Coach, as we saw this past year, having top talent on the field doesn't always win games, and without the proper scheme, those top players can be in the wrong places play after play, confused, and lose more games than not.

Coaching, and preperation, is the key. Getting the talented kids is one thing, but preparing them and getting them focused is the key. I've seen not so talented defenses win games against the more talented team due to the scheme, and good coaching. You must, most importantly, be able to make half time adjustments, and good ones, to consistently win ...
