Hey - We have been tailgating for quite a while out of the truck on campus and have recently bought a bus. We want to bring it this year for the games but are complete novices as to what to do - I know the hayfields are first come first serve - how full do they get by Friday afternoons? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and War Eagle!
We've been tailgating from our RV for years. RV's can move into the free "hayfield" area at 2:00 on Thursday. Folks begin marking off their spots right at 2pm for the bigger games and folks seem to honor the orange tape folks put up--at least where we park. For the less popular games you can easily find a spot without marking it off in advance. RV's in the hayfields on Donohue are packed in really tight. The last couple of years we've been tailgating in the area off College across from the museum. Folks aren't packed in as tightly and with our group of 4 RV's, we have plenty of room for us and our guests who come in on Saturday in their vehicles. Everyone is very respectful of each other's space and it's not as noisy as it is closer in. There's a street that you can turn left on from College at the light just north of the museum and it connects with Donohue and you can easily access this area from there. Tiger Transit runs from this street at the corner of Donohue as well, but we usually walk to the games--it's quicker than Tiger Transit. Congratulations--you are going to love tailgating from your RV. War Eagle!
jpdadud - Thanks! That's what I have needed to know! I am familiar with the area - Both my daughter and I lived on the Hill (at different times, obviously) but we know the roads you are talking about. We had also wondered if it was a little 'wilder' than we were used to - so glad to know there is a 'quieter' side as well. And that company is welcome.
We are looking forward to a great Fall! War Eagle!
