I think TB is a solid coach and can win at AU ..he will def be back this year but his job will be on the line next year. I think it is clear to all that his teams performance on the court and off in 2014 will determine his future here...the program is def n better shape heading into next year from a depth and talent point than it has been in some time but as grandma used to say ....the proof is always in the pudding!!!!

Good coach or not, he shold quit blaming the players for these problems. A good coach always takes the blame for bad play and he does not seem to be able to do that. Does not speak well for his future at AU.

Most of you on here know I've been extremely supportive of Barbee, and still am, but last night was disappointing. He's got to do something to get in these players heads. After 3 years, I think everything has improved but the W/L column, and there is still a little optimism to look forward to with next years guys coming, but if we are sitting at 9-14 this time next year, the Tony Barbee farewell tour will be in full swing.

What Auburn Basketball is doing is obvious. The reasons are obvious. .Except to the men in charge - the two Jays. What does that mean? Probably a number of things, Maybe, that it's tougher to be in charge than it looks.

Plain and simple, we do not have the talent shooting the ball that the majority of the teams we lose to do. As much as I think Barbee has not had a fair chance to show what he's capable of, I doubt he gets a chance to show what HIS recruits can do with a year or two under his teaching.

However, the turn around on defense has been enough for me to merit Barbee getting another year. We play good enough on D to win, but haven't had a good, consistent shooter in a while...

What's killing us right now are the defections. We would almost certainly be a different, better team with the players that have left playing in their 2nd and 3rd years. One man is responsible for the entire scope of basketball, whatever happens, good or bad, that man is CTB. One man is responsible for CTB, whatever happens, good or bad, that man is JJ. We are in a no win, triangulated crossfire! JJs hands are tied to Barbees 7yr contract and being "His" hire. Admitting failure would be admitting job failure, again. The only man that can replace JJ is, well, not a sports minded person, to put it nicely! The whole mess is a BLIVET! A BLIVET is 10 lbs of Sh-t in a 5 lb bag! That's what we have, a BLIVET!

That's awesome. I had never heard of a blivet. Unfortunately, you are correct. Nothing changes until Gouge leaves. Weren't there rumors about him retiring soon? What happened to those? I don't know how long it would take a new president to bring in a new AD. Then how long would it take the new AD to bring in a new basketball coach? I'm afraid our new arena will be an old arena before we see a new basketball coach and Auburn basketball will still be Auburn basketball.
