Saban comments on Wall Street Journal Article

  • Birmingham News reported this morning that Saban commented on the Wall Street Journal article on the excessive amount of medical hardships was that he did not make those decisions. "I didn't really read the article. I didn't see the article," Saban began. "But we don't make the decision about medicals. I have nothing to do with that. Those are medical decisions made by our medical staff. I think we have one of the finest medical staffs in the country. ..."
The WSJ article also stated that SEC teams have given a TOTAL of 25 medical hardships in the past three years.... uat has given 12 of those. That leaves 11 for the REST of the conference, or a average on 1 per school over a three year period. Can this be accurate. If so, what gives? How can the SEC or the NCAA not question uat's practice of giving these medicals to make room for more schollies each year?

  • Satan isn't omniscient, he should have read the article before commenting on it.

    From the article....

"Mr. Griffin said, Mr. Saban sat him down and asked him what he wanted to do besides playing football. He said that Mr. Saban floated the possibility of a medical scholarship and asked if Mr. Griffin was interested in student coaching".

"Mr. Kirschman said Mr. Saban encouraged him to accept the scholarship because of a back problem that he believes he could have played through."

  • We all know what is going on, the problem is it's not against the rules. I believe Prothro was the 1st to receive one of these under satan, which was probably deserving, but the rest are more likely questionable at best.
