The B1G is an FCS level conference already right?
When some league has to play the level of opponent week in week out as the SEC then they can talk about the SEC needing to beef up its OOC schedule.
Performance stands out like a ton of diamonds. Nonperformance can always be explained away.

It has been my opinion for a while now that Auburn should not schedule FCS schools. If we want to help one or several of those schools financially, just send them a check. If the rest of the league wants to follow, great for them. As another has said, there are many schools at the top level that would not match up physically with Auburn. I would much rather play UAB or Idaho than App St.

I don't know Pommostaclenes, those guys are just going to get blown out the same way Ga. Southern or South Alabama would. All it does is pass the eye test with no real substance to it. The amount of operating expenses that they make in one game is massive. Without it you wouldn't have the South Florida's or Marshall's of the world being able to one day jump to the next level. Surely it wouldn't stop them from doing it but I would think that it would make it tremendously difficult. It's either that or have teams like Troy who dupe the state into helping them pay for enough upgrades to jump levels. Sorry I couldn't help myself...hehe.
I used to be on your bandwagon until I saw what it did for those schools. Plus even with those games the SEC's schedule is so difficult that we are still putting 2 teams in the big game at the same time. The SEC teams can lose one game even 2 games and still get in over worthy teams that lose equal or less than us. Thats with an FCS opponent on the schedule. Kicking the piss outta Wyoming instead of Alcorn St. Isn't gonna make one bit of difference. Except to the eye. The only time I've seen it hurt is 2004. That was only because Oklahoma STOLE Auburn's original opponent and Auburn had to scramble around and find someone to play the summer before the season. Fluke.... My point is that it isn't going to make for more competitive games like Barry or the writer alluded too. That is unless they schedule opponents that truly give them a more competitive game and New Mexico St. Isn't the answer.

SEC Should Follow Big Ten Lead, No Longer Schedule FCS Opponents
