Defeat doesn't finish a man - quit does. A man is not finished when he's defeated. He's finished when he quits. - Richard Nixon

So basically what I learned in this thread is that Gogue's stubborness about waiting until the end of the season, which is basically another way of saying "I'm indecisive and need more time", has put us way behind the other 3 SEC schools. The one good thing about how bad this season was, is that it was SO bad that we had plenty of time to do this coaching search and get organized. It was evident early on that a change was needed. Or so I thought. But instead of being proactive Gogue had his head up his ass and went back and forth on whether or not to fire JJ, and so far has made very little progress. In the end this could not only likely result in us having to hire a lesser coach, but it will take much longer and cost us in recruiting as well.
I'd love to think that Auburn is simply being extra covert about this and has just been successful in keeping things quiet but c'mon... its Auburn. That's just not our style. Nothing I've read from anyone has indicated to me we could possibly be organized well enough to pull that off.
If we don't have the balls to hire Petrino, then everyone welcome our new coach Gus Malzahn. We're going to be too far behind to get involved with any other candidates so we'll hire the one that nobody else is interested in.
