Great story, Phillip. This is a very impressive man. Auburn football may not be turned around in the first year and maybe even the first two.... but with these coaches at the helm, we will get there. "It's a new day". War Eagle!!
Every time I read quotes from this staff I can't help but get hyped up. It's nice to have some guys who have lived up out there recruiting for us.
He was in Indiana this week. Must be seeing Elijah Daniel.
Very impressive article Philllip and a VERY impressive man, an Auburn man! It is amazing to me how much you can "feel" this coaching staff's chemistry. Gus has done an outstanding job in bringing this staff together. I loved Gus and his offense when he was here as OC but I must admit I was not sure how I felt about him being named our new HC, afraid of the lack of HC experience. But I now believe he has an unbelievable understanding of the whole picture, not just the offense, of all of the facets of the game and exactly what the true definition of "team" means. It is not just the players, the playbooks, the head coach, it is all of these and more working as one. All loving what they do and working for one common goal. Gus just gets it and I am whole heartedly 100% on that Gus Bus now!!! Welcome home Coach Garner!!!
Gus proved himself with this one move. Bringing back CRG was long overdue. He may prove to be the most important assistant hire EVER.
Great article Phillip! I ran into Coach Garner coming out of the AU Credit Union two weeks ago and told him we were so glad to have him back home. His coming back home was a great Christmas gift for us all! I too laughed at the thought of Coach Dye washing those dishes but what an impression for family! War Eagle Forever Coach!
Goes to prove that one night in Auburn could change your life. Even if your a bamer. WDE!!!
Great article, Auburn is such a special place. I need baseball season to start so I have a reason to go down there. My wife thinks I'm crazy when I want to drive 2.5 hours for a basketball game, but a baseball series is an entire weekend.
WDE!! I cannot wait til Aug 31!! Let's kick it off!!
Gus knows how to build a team, from the top down. Welcome home, Coach Garner, welcome home..WDE!!
WDE!!! This article gave me chill bumps!!!!
I live in Salt Lake and they were talking about Charles Barkley in Cali doin the weather for some local station, it was funny to see. Also didnt Garner and Barkley were cousins, you would have thought that would have been know for years, learn something new everyday. WDE!
My love of Auburn, my sister and a few friends is about all I have to sustain me at this time. I actually started crying when I read his quotes. It is obvious that he loves Auburn to the highest degree.
I love that he was a life long Alabama fan and had been committed since 10th grade. Disliked Auburn so much, he wouldn't even go to Auburn to see his own cousin play bb. That is strong dislike. Once he got a taste of the Auburn family, he had to have more. What a story!
Auburn...a family tradition since 1905
