Whose team have you heard more issues with from a moral standpoint? Chizik's (a supposedly moral man) Auburn or Petrino's (supposedly the most immoral person on the planet according to some) Arkansas? Simply because the man made a huge mistake doesn't mean he cant guide young men to make better decisions.

Hell, some of the best speakers out there are people who made terrible decisions and then rose above them. Sometimes you need to hear it from someone who has experienced the pain that comes with making major mistakes.

To compare Petrino, who did not do anything with malicious intent, with a deranged person who set out to hurt a very large group of people through his actions because of a football rivalry is ridiculous.

you have an interesting point of view. But honestly, this whole Petrino forgiveness thing is tiring. What does my forgiveness have to do with the hiring of him? The question is not one of "can I forgive" but more along the lines of "can I trust him not to do it again?" In this case, in each of the episodes Bobby has been in, he has failed to not lie to his employer. Also, in each case, the lying was more perverse and more deep. While David ask God to "restore a right spirit within" him, and recognized his own failings. Does Bobby truly meet that standard? If not, and the hire is made, who accepts that? Who will ultimately risk his future, his livelihood, his standing in all of life, for believing in Bobby Petrino? That decision is one that will determine if Petrino will be removed from the list for the "safety" of not hiring him. In my mind, Gogue will remove him and make a "safer" hire. Can you blame him?

Depends on if you judge character as moral or criminal. Petrino has moral issues. updyke is a criminal. Character doesn't win football games.

I'll name one difference. One is going to jail one is not.
